Didn't some of the Grand Am's have dual cupholders in front of the shifter assembly?

Would this not fit in the Alero?

The cupholder that sits directly in front of the armrest, did this originally come with a rubber insert? There's not one in mine, and from all the other cars I looked at I haven't seen one to put back in there.

Do any of the other Olds interiors, the Silhouette or Intrigue, from that era fit into the Alero?
The local JY has some nice leather interior in the somewhat larger Olds and wondering if these were a bolt on swap.

In general, to use any of the Grand Am interior pieces you have to use ALL of the Grand Am interior pieces. There are exceptions though.
The cupholder between the armrest and the shifter did not come with a rubber insert that I am aware of, although later interiors did not have a flip cover on that cupholder.
It's highly doubtful that you could swap interior pieces from a larger car into the Alero, although some pieces may fit/work with some tweaking. You my just need to try and see for yourself.

The cupholder in front of the armrest did come with a rubber insert, I have one out of my 03 I'll just have to look around when I get home. My 00 came with a flip cover, my 03 did not.

Mine does have the flip open one.. I think that design was just.. yeah.. no wonder they removed it.

But if you look closely at it, there's two little slots where it looks like a rubber insert would "mount" into.. problem I can see with that cupholder is it's so small that with the insert in place a 12oz can would probably barely fit and you'd pull the rubber right out attached to the can.

Also didn't the Malibu from 1999-2004 share the body so would those parts fit into the Alero/Grand Am cars as well?

The insert is pretty thin..i should be home friday so I'll look then.
It uses the small hole at the bottom and kinda snaps in.

I dont think I've ever looked at a malibu interior but yes they are all n bodies.

As Matt said most interiors are model specific and would require a complete swap... i did a grand am interior swap on one of my cars and am redoing it in another as we speak... even the vent tubes have to be swapped to work right... as for the malibu iirc they were more blah than either the alero or grand am...

All Grand Am's from 99-05 have dual cupholders in front of the shifter assembly. As far as a rubber insert, I'm not sure whether or not the Grand Am brought it stock, but I do know that the Cavalier has it stock on the 99-05. If you really want it that bad, I would get it from a Cavalier. I can also say the cupholder in front of the arm rest/storage bin is intended to be the ashtray cup in the Grand Am. I usually move it around, but I do notice the ashtray cup fills the hole real nice in the center compared to it being in front of the shifter.

The thing about using other interiors is that the whole dash has to be swapped. In the case of the Grand Am, the center console is actually designed to be "connecting" with the center of the dash... like so

The W body is longer/wider than the N body, so no Impala, Intrigue, Lumina, Monte Carlo, or Grand Prix stuff can fit inside without modification. The van.... whole nother league.

If you're serious about getting stuff to fit from another chassis, take measurements, take the stuff from a donor car then play with a wrecked alero and then see whether or not it's worth it.

Notice that extra cubby where the cupholders are... The 2 pieces of the interior connect there. Also, most Grand Am interiors were gray or tan. That one is obviously painted by the owner.

It shares the Chassis, but they're different cars. The Malibu stuff generally doesn't swap over. As far as I know, you can get the little stuff. Dash itself is different, visors are different, seats may be the same (but they're damn sure flat and not very comforting and pleasing to the eye).
