Just Purchased an Alero

I just purchased this Alero from a family member for my son.

2000 2 door coupe GL
2.4 L
4 wheel disk
25,000 Miles
Crank Windows
Power Locks
AM/FM Cassette

I've had it about a week now and have been scouring this site for ideas.
It was pretty much garaged it's whole life. My son and I gave it a good wax last weekend and found the paint and body are flawless. No issues with the trans or motor (knock on wood). The dash is wavey, but the interior is super clean.
Thus far I"ve snipped the DRL's and tinted the windows (relay 22, prong 87). I just bought a set of 17 inch, black, American Racing Helo 845 rims and a set of tires that will be mounted next week. We will be going on a salvage yard hunt for a spoiler next week.

Very clean! 25k miles wow am i jealous! Car is very clean! If it has the famous dash ripple, i suggest a "dash cap" it fits over the stock dash, looks great and is a durable plastic where you wont have to worry about it ever again.

Other then that, good job removing DRL's. if you can, try and find a grand am sc/t spoiler and mount it on there. (Not the same as alero spoiler holes) but i figure it has no spoiler you'll need to drill some. Ive been wondering on an sct spoiler for mine, but i already have a stock one mounted. The sct looks great, but havent seen one on alero. Please think about trying to find one and put it on! :)

But, happy hunting hope you, and your son enjoy the car. They are really great. Though i have a 3400 v6 i do not know much on the 2.4L ... We have one member here who has the 2.4 and its roughly 450hp with a turbo.

Welcome, you should buy new struts and lowering springs, they make these cars look 10x better.

this is the sc/t spoiler sleepy is referring to... I think it would look stellar on your alero, and seeing as you have nothing, I agree it would be nice to find!!
they were a factory option on 03-05 grand am's if you could find one in the scrap yard!!

That spoiler looks sweet. I'm hoping we can find one in salvage. And your right It shouldn't be an issue, being that there are no pre-existing holes on the trunk lid. I do intend on lowering it with a spring and strut package, however we are going to wait until after he takes his driving test using this car in mid January.
I'll post some more pics after the rims and tires on next week.

VERY nice alero!!!! I couldn't believe it when i saw 25k! Nice. Weird how yours came with all disc brakes but no power windows lol. Black wheels will look NICE on there along with that G/A spoiler. What other futures plans do you have for it other than lowering?

They all had disc brakes from 99-02. Also, It's a GX, not a GL.

all gls models will have a v6. gl2 will the v6 gl1 can 4 banger or v6. gx will always be a 4 banger.

the GX is also the only one with that particular cloth (kona/java only in pewter) and crank windows are a GX thing.

The dash issue is common. I bought a "dash cap" off a guy on eBay. He goes by the name az bob or bob az, something like that but after 6 years in the NE sun, it still looks new.
