[COLOR=blue] ;) just a question I have a 1999 2.4 alero, what I am wondering is will a air intake made for a cavalier fit on the alero if the engine size is the same, and second question is what is a good intake to buy...thanks for the help Rich :smokin:

yes one from a cav will fit on an alero.

far as good intake, the 2 best are APOC and induction dynamics CAI. i did have a weapon R it was ok for a WAI. but i would say best WAI would be AEM.

The best cai in my opinion is The Indunction Dynamics cai....i just installed one of them in a friends car a couple of weeks ago but myself personally, i have the AEM wai...both are good.

i like the CAI but its a PITA to install.

induction dynamics is your best bet

yea, not bad price for AEM. if you ever want to make it CAI. all you have to do is get the CAI from rksport and add it on. not as good as ID but better than WAI.

depending on how you cover your cone, with the factory stuff your cone would be fine.

it does but you have to find ways around it without saying oh well. not easy, might start traffic jam but traffic jam is better than hydrolock.

rather have hydroloch than traffic jam....remember when your under 25 car insurance is high enough and with an accidend your payin for it for the next 3 years in you premiums....rather have hydrolock and have mechanic dad fix car....besides i didnt think the puddle was that big untill i got up on it woops, sure messed up that judgement but its all good B)

ok in your case a hydroloch would be better.

that's the one I have. Wish the coupler was red instead of blue though. Anyone know where I could get a red coupler that goes from the TB to the intake tube? I also replaced the cone filter it came with with the K&N filter. Great setup for the price.

Personally i had the AEM short ram air, it sounded mean, and i thought was the best way to gain cheap hp, i was taking all stock v-6 aleros with just the intake. but the APOC CAI is also pretty good.

how low down does a CAI go? I thought it was right behind the battery.

I got my pro var parts intake on the one thng it has on the AEM is that it is the full pipe from the throttle body to the cone filter. The wires for the air sensor barely reached its new placement on the intake rube the wores are pritty much taught. One thing I don't like is the filter is really small but the sound that comes out of it is very big it is like haveing a ricer muffler under my hood. Go to My Webpage (http://www.cardomain.com/id/vtolds) To see pics of it pics of it on the car will be up soon.

Even the WAI adds a little. Best bang is the WAI or CAI and the 62mm throttle body from RSM. I added it about 7,000 miles ago. The gas milieage stayed about the same, maybe 1/2 mile per gallon less. Power, definite seat of the pants. Didn't change the torque curve though. I was expecting higher revs before it kicked, however, it made the whole power band stronger, especially the high end. I also added the Rapid Fire plugs from GM and that helped smooth out the idle a little, plus made the pull feel stronger.

Another option for a WAI is from rksport. I've had it on my car for a couple of years I think. I like it. Nice sound, not to loud, not to quiet.
