The right rear brake line (#3) is corroded at the union (#s 10 and 11) and is leaking. This is in a very inconvenient spot above the fuel filter and carbon canister. Any body have any ideas besides replacing both lines completely?

If only section #3 is leaking then you should be able to replace that fairly easy. Otherwise you'll have to splice in a new section to repair the bad spots.

If it's just leaking at the connector and not corroded all the way through the line, then you might be able to just clean it up and re-install, but I would paint it to give it some protection from the elements and further damage.

They make copper alloy brake lines now that are expensive but sooo easy to bend. If it was me I'd splice new line just under the drivers rear floor pan and run it all the way back to the brake hose. Clean and simple that way.

I like that idea, I think I'll run with it. Thanks!

Replaced these with the copper nickel line, very easy to use, found out when attaching connectors you can't tighten them like steel line or you clip the flare right off. Either that or I just don't know my own strength.

what do you mean "the connectors"? you mean the fittings you use or are you talking about part of the flaring tool?

Sorry. By connectors I meant metric brake line tube union 3/16" line 10MM X 1." And the double flared end of the brake line was what I clipped off when I was tightening the 3/16" line metric brake line fitting to said union. Maybe just a poorly executed flare.
