our cars call for an 894 bulb however i can get an 896 much cheaper through commercial at work. the 896 has like a black coating on the tip of the bulb, would that make any difference in the beam pattern in the fogs? the 894 does nothave the black dipped tip. they are the same other then that, but i do not want to get it and have my fogs look stupid because of it.

I imagine (and that's what it is, imagination!) that the black tip is primarily to add to the retina guard that's required on some lights.
You shouldn't notice any difference from the front, save for maybe a small dimming in the very center, instead of a bright dot in the very center.
I'd run them!

The black tip will difuse the light a bit but otherwise light output would be the same

Bulbs aren't that expensive anyway but good deal I suppose if the light output is the same.

Ya i know i get screwed up here... that's why i just went with a ddm 35w hid kit... $60 later by the time they were shipped but hopefully they last longer than 6 months like the regular bulbs haha
03gxeco - you should post some pics showing how they look... see if anyone can notice any difference in the lights or light output from them!!

will do. once i find the time to install. its also cold as hell in new york right now and my hands have poor circulation so they tend to freeze quickly even if i use those hot hands heating pouches.

Anything based off the 880 bulb will fit. For some reason, GM used many variations of that bulb, but they're all the same save for wattage differences and the glare tip thing.
