I did a search on the site and found nothing on this topic. How is this done step by step? I have tried it in the past with the gauge and everything but it seems I forgot to do something because it didn't make the air cooler. I have the right kit for the aleros with the gauge and a 12 oz can? Might be more or less. It's on of the big ones.

I have been confused by this too.........I know there are two ports like upper and lower or something like that, and you hafta fill it up by only one otherwise it doesnt work.......r134a or r34a or something like that is the coolant and it sounds like you got the right kit.........I just have been able to find that second port.........cuz my air doesnt blow all that cold I dont think so I have been wanting to do this.....

The lower port on the 3400 is black next to the firewall LOW. The high port is up front. One has a red cap other has a blue cap. The lower one is where you fill it up. I just need to know what do to do other then take the cap off hook up the recharger and turn it on. I know sometimes you need to run the car to get it to flow out of the can other then that the book I have does not say much else.

My 99 Alero has no cold in the AC either. Is it normal that you have to recharge it after 4-5 years? I don't wanna recharge it and see it without coolant in a year again. (last year the AC work 50%).

Some of the recharge kits fix small leaks when you charge your system. If all you need to do is charge it every year go with the kit and buy cans every year. Only cost you 4.00 for a 12oz can and the kits I think are 29.00 they come with 4 cans and the needed gauge and line to put it in. When I had my AC looked at it started with a 350.00 bill and went up to 500.00 because of all the time it took them to find two or three little leaks.

why would you say that? r-134a is a halocarbon, and although it technically classifies as a "greenhouse gas" it does not destroy ozone, and is therefore the best "ozone-friendly" refrigerant currently available.

The problem is that I live in Sweden, I don't know of any place selling that kit here.
Can you buy them on the internet somewhere?

Didn't see that till now. Not sure because it's a really toxic gas. My guess is it would have to be shipped on a ship if it was and that takes weeks.

it's not a "really toxic gas" it's not toxic at all. you could be in a confined room with just the gas, and only die due to asphyxiation from the lack of oxygen in the room.
the only problem with shipping it is the fact that it's compressed in a can.
i hate to be an asshole, but if you dont know about something, dont go passing around false information.
computer air duster has the same halocarbon in it as 134a. it's tetrafluoroethane. and i know plenty of dippoops that inhale that poop. haha.
but anyways, it isnt toxic. and it's ozone friendly.

oh, and it can be shipped as long as it's marked nonflammable gas.

Right off the can "Inhalation of contents of this can is extremely dangerous - death can occur without warning" this was a can in a kit so most of the warnings were on the box but that is one that is off the can. If it can kill you it's toxic to me.

Now that I didn't know. Looking at the can that must put that on there to cover their ass from people getting high off the poop. Sorry was going what was off the can. Used to using the older stuff that I was always tought to stay away from if it starts leaking.

yea, well a can of Co2 would say the same exact thing. anything in your lungs that would completely replace oxygen will kill you.
but i can see how people would be cautious of refrigerants, especially with the risks of older stuff.
