Laugh all you want, you should know more than anybody that people say they are coming out, then back out at the last minute

Really, it's kinda sad when you think about it. A car that was last built 17 years ago, still gets 2 to 3 times the cars than the Alero show got in 2004

Depends what that 17 year old car is... If we're talking about a 96 Impala SS, of course it's going to get more attention since it's a muscle car. The Alero was never anyting special and that's the saddest part of this. It's the last Oldsmobile ever to be made and yet it's seen as so mundane that when the 1999 Alero is 20 years old, an Alero is going to be a rare sight.

My point is that it's hard to be passionate about a compact FWD car, even if it is anything special. Ask the W body guys about that, the Turbo Grand Prix and the Cutlass Supreme Convertible were limited edition runs like the 94-96 Impala SS, but they'll never command the money nor have the community that the Impala SS enjoys.

Big trip to Disney next year so that might be out too.

Was talking to the gf last night about it, and she's for the trip. Plus after 10 years of going out there, I know how to do the trip CHEAP!! I would like to bring the Delta like I said, but those MI highways, IDK if the Delta could handle those sppeds for that long. Might be me handling those speeds for that long.

Would be nice to cruise out with a "Classic Car" tag on the car in 2015 :D

The other thing that could help is if i got my gas mileage up about 10 mpg... I am tired of getting 22-23 highway with my eco that i have seen get as much as 36mpg...changed the pedal sensors which helped some as it now actually has fluctuating rpm based on load instead of holding steady until downshift...gonna run injector cleaner through and see if it helps...i have noticed a very minor miss (no codes) that i would either attribute to that or coil pack, plug rail, plug boots, or plugs (boots and plugs have around 47k on them but it has been low for a good 10k mile)...i am also nervous about taking the plugs out since no plug grease was used because didnt think about aluminum head and have never had an issue on a iron head car without it

Anti seize goes on the threads. Boot grease goes on the acrylic center so the rubber boot doesnt stick to the plug.

its mostly the minor crap I want to do right now. Its not ready for any serious tuning by any means. either way thats something I have to cross off my list for now. At this point I have to decide if making that long of a trip is worth it for such a small turn out. I was really hoping numbers would stay closer to the double digits.

Good luck, that's all I have to say

C2;653934']:rotflmao:

it's a car meet

Laugh all you want, you should know more than anybody that people say they are coming out, then back out at the last minute

Really, it's kinda sad when you think about it. A car that was last built 17 years ago, still gets 2 to 3 times the cars than the Alero show got in 2004

C2;655702']watch, it's gonna be me, sleepy, papa, and oldsnut lol

:rolleyes2:

if you're going to quote, do it right
C2;653963']who said we expect a huge turnout?

don't reiterate your incorrect assumption
my laughter wasn't regarding whether or not there would be many cars, it was because your post was a very short blip meant to put down the idea of meeting

Down to the small things before the trip.

Just vacuumed out the inside. It needed it.

Waiting for my new lights to come in. (Hopefully thursday)

Got oil and a filter tonight. Going to change that Thursday night after I install my lights and adjust the beam height.

Thats pretty much it. Car is due for an oil change in roughly 350 miles. So im just going to do it thursday night to get it out of the way so I dont go over 3000 miles on the oil. :)

Then friday around 5 am ill be leaving to meet up with papa to convoy up to Lansing. Lights are cutting it close but should be here before I have to leave friday so thats a plus.

That was my car they wanted to put their dick on.

If mine didn't look worse than it did last year I might have went for it, but with so few people and more body damage along with everything going on right now, I decided it wasn't really feasible to make the trip this year

Brakes halfway fixed. Thanks to babyblue and his mom for bringing parts down. Should be back together tomorrow. 2 new tires, one is showing metal, much worse then I thought. Maybe I can make it home without any more surprises.
Eating a b-dubs, 5 aleros turned out oh well, a nice weekend away.

I feel you on that. I'm in the middle of a restoration on my Cutlass Supreme. Between the fact that it has no interior (really no carpet and panels as I put the seats back in) and the fact that the trans sensor is out, there was no way I could have made a trip like this.

I'm hoping to be able to make it in 2015 or 2016, depending how long this resto takes.
