I want to blacken them out not clear them, how would I got about that? Also any tips on blacking out taillights also?

Take apart headlights. Remove orange reflector. Apply VHT night shades. Let dry. Re install reflector. Put headlight back together.

Tails... vht nightshade or a 50/50 paint/clear coat mix.

I would just use black auto paint for the headlights. For the tail-lights, you could either tint them with actual tint or use VHT. I noticed that the more layers of VHT that is applied, the greater chance of it becoming dull after a while.

Yoy dont wanna use straight up back paint on the reflector in the headlight...if you did that your corner lights would become invisible

If you do the housings and not the reflector it would be fine with paint. As for the tails, vht will fade over time no matter what. I did 3 light coats of vht along with 3 costs of clear to help preserve it and it faded after 3 years.
