Gold Trim Aleros Vs. Chrome Trim

:thumbsup: I was just wondering what the gold trim on the aleros mean. Like the gold olds in the front and the alero in the back. I have chrome, and dont know the diff. between them, call me stupid, :unsure: but i was just wondering. Thanks

hey, if i remember right its the special edtion aleros that get the gold emblems, but im might be wrong...

Nah, it was an option on all Aleros. It was like $250 bucks extra....for a painted piece of plastic.

Right. I think the chrome looks better than the gold, regardless of the color of the Alero .

it depends daytona....look at YB's ride...he's got the gold trim, and he stuck to it for a theme...it looks good if you ask me

personally, i like the chrome better, even tho most of my emblems are gone

The gold is just the same emblems, but the dealership has someone come in and paint them with 10k gold paint. I was going for it until I saw a couple here in town get them ripped off!

Yeah, gold package. I thought it looked crappy except on the olive green color and maybe white.

i don't think this applies to all years but for some of the years the Gold Package was not available on all colors. it was mainly available on the darker colored cars.

It was not available on Silver models, at least not in Canada.

I've got the silver emblems...but if I get gold rims (I LOVE gold rims), I'll probably switch off my emblems for the gold ones. :thumbsup:

I really like the gold emblems. ( I REALLY like them on the darker red/ burgandy Aleros ) Are you sure that it's 10K Gold? I never woulda thought......cool ! B) I have thought once or twice about getting the bronze/gold rims, but they're outta my price range. <_<

i have the gold emblems. they came w/ my sport package along w/ the decals on the side. i'd have to say that i love the gold on my car, being that its white, but im not a fan of it on darker colors such as black. just my opinion...

I cannot speak for all dealerships, but mine was going to use real gold paint! As far as I am aware, that is the norm.

I hate it when a sealer puts extra emblems on a car and call it a special edition. The only thing special is they just charged you a couple hundred dollars for 15 dollars worth of crap. I've seen it around here too.

well i bought it used, but yeah i know what you mean. i dont like my decals on the side, but it is the only alero i have ever seen w/ them on. so good and bad i guess....

i have the gold badges on a red alero, it looks bad, i dont like it at all, especially with the chrome gls rims and chrome window trim, didnt olds know how to color coordinate?? but yes on a white car they look good if gold rims were ur style they would go well. ive been thinkin about shavin the badges but i dont wanna damage my paint, if i ever do whoever wants em can have if they pay the s & h but im really scared of f'in my paint up!! Oh well; PEACE!!!!

shaving the badges isnt tough at all... i took off my ALERO on the decklid since i have the brake light decal. it kinda scared me though cause as i was cleaning off the glue that holds them on, it started turning green. but it all came off and looks good...

Gold and green only ...maybe white...I'm not a big fan of gold unless its white gold...yellow gold :thumbsup: might come back in style but for me metal finish is the cleanest look...chrome on silver or silver on silver or brushed aluminum

i wanna shave the badges and i know its all in the how to guide, but how easy is it to damage your paint? i dont wanna end up applying too much heat and wrecking stuff. So what i really wanna know is, how quickly could i damage my paint if i screw this up?

DOn't apply too much heat if you dont want to you don't have to use heat just some fishing line or floss...you do have floss don't you ...hope so...anyways just slide it behind and go back and forth until you slide it down enough :thumbsup:

its not 10K gold, It is just gold painted plastic. I switched mine from silver to gold. I dont know who would have paid extra for painted plastic but oh well

I can't speak for all dealerships or what comes from the factory, but to have it done at my dealership, they ONLY use 10k gold paint/plating.
