I bought some hood struts but I didnt realize that they wouldnt include the necessary hardware. Or that some aleros actually came with this option. Could someone take a picture of the ball pivots or the hardware that is needed. Thanks.

1999-2000 option I believe. After that, GM cheaped out on these cars. If you can find a decent hood at the junkyard that matched the colour of your Alero that would be the easiest thing. The OEM hoods have the mount for the strut welded to the hood so it's not easily done without a hood that already had gas struts.
Sleepy's alternative looks pretty decent though. Didn't know there was an aftermarket strut option. Good find.

Damn sleepy, where did you find that link. I was searching google and never found those. I have the struts but am missing the attachment ball pivots. I may have to buy that set, hood struts are awesome.

Well a hood is 50 at a junk yard regardless... so you might as well buy the ones I posted in link.
Only way I know about them is because mfuller has a set. ;)

yeah, they are pretty far back on the body, but about halfway on the hood itself... I had looked into swapping them to my car, but they are welded in place on both the body and hood...
honestly, if you want the struts that bad, buy the redline ones... I can message my buddy that had them on his GA and see if he took them off when he scrapped his car...

Can someone post a pic of specifically how the struts are mounted onto the fender? I already have a hood located. Also, are the swivel balls 10mm? Thanks!

Interesting. I might just attach one of these to each of my hinges then...

I'll try to get a detailed picture tonight if it's not raining when I get home. My silver car had them but when the hood was replaced the guy didn't get a hood with them do I'm back to a prop rod

That's how they are attached on the hatch on the back of my Escort.

Just type in "hood strut ball" in ebay and you'll get some different options. We just need to know what size the stock ball is. They come in different sizes like 10mm and 13mm.

That sounds expensive.

If you happen to wreck your car and you need a new hood anyway, it should be no big deal to upgrade to the model with the hod struts. Or just get the appropriate parts from a junkyard and use your welder.
