well, I basically have everything "documented" on here with mods and what not, but id like to make it all into one thread and update as things go along. just so I basically have a "build sheet" and will most likely include prices to get a good jist of everything as well.

so lets get started!


2008:

I bought a 2001 Oldsmobile Alero GLS gold series early Dec. of 07 off my uncle. 127k miles on the clock for 3500$.

I have a pic way before she started getting modded. ill add that in later, gotta dig through emails for it....



2009:


got a cold air intake for xmas from ebay. didn't pay for it but cost: 62$

2010


Installed DDM tuning 35w 8k HID's still as of today 5/9/14 still running the same kit, bulbs have not burnt out, nor have the ballasts. this kit has done me well. total cost. 60$ to my door.

installed Pacesetter 2.5inch cat back exhaust. 324$ shipped.

got pacesetter headers off amazon. 305$. no pic. :(


2011:


Ordered some new wheels/tires to replace my 16' wheels.

MSR 048 black/machine face wheels, nitto neo gen tires 225/40/r18

wheels off ebay new: 526$
tires: about 480$ after mount/balance and tire "insurance".

2012:


Took the car to MMS for some serious work.

- 6 speed transmission. (from g6)
- Metal header gaskets. (No more blowing the junk pacesetter gaskets)
- Oil pan gasket.
- Valve cover gaskets.
- Transmission mounts. (Powdercoated blue)
- Modified heater tube. (Powdercoated blue)
- Replaced front head.
- Stainless steel catless downpipe.
- EGR delete.
- Stainless allen header bolts.

I think there is a couple other small things, ive got everything on a reciept/invoice sheet but you guys basically get the point.

- 6700$ for everything.

got her first real buff with a buffer! 40$ in gas. buff was free, thanks to a gagt member.

lowered the car! kyb gr2 struts, kyb bump stop, moog mounts, canuck springs. total cost after I had GM dealer assemble the springs/struts for me (I installed myself) around 750$.

2013:


Ported and polished manifolds. 430$

there is other things I did not include, like aftermarket gauges. led third brake light, new brake color, and other small things.



MUCH MORE TO COME! My plan is boost. But that takes money! And lots of it with how I want the build to go. The car currently has a great tune on it thanks to an amod member here. He has been MIA for a bit. But I hope he comes back soon to finish tweaking it.

2 things real quick.
does the washer reservoir fill mess with the CAI route?
and I noticed the pall malls, do you smoke in your car?
I had those window trim pieces and that was the only way I could smoke in mine if it was raining. one came off when I was cleaning snow off and instead of fixing it I just took em all off.

No, the wash tank doesnt interfere with it. I just wanted to remove it. I never use my wipers, and the car doesnt see rain/snow so no need for it. I love my car clean and my windshield clean, i cant stand a dirty windshield, I personally hate seeing wiper marks on the windshield cause then i feel the car is dirty, so i dont use them. I may just remove the wiper blades/motor eventually hahaha.

I USED to smoke, and yes i smoked in the car. I am now 1.5 months sober of a cigarette. Ive been wanting to quit for awhile.

And thanks! Im always posting pictures of the car on instagram, if you wanna give me a follow to see recent stuff its "destinyalero" i post more pictures there of thr car then anywhere. Lol


Edit: and yeah i loved the fender stripes. Sometimes i think about bringing them back....

So any opinion what 'the best' mod was so far?
For looks, I'd say the blue fender stripes. Without it's somehow not your car.
For the engine, and internal mods I can't even guess.

What I would deem an unnecessary mod? The manual transmission. I personally don't want to drive a manual anymore. Especially not on german roads with german rushhour traffic :(

Yeah im missing the fender stripes. Been debating bringing them back. I love my MMS headers and 6 speed trans alot. And my new cowl hood. Id say those are my top favorites. And my racing seats. Idk. I have a lot of things i like. Nothing i dont really dislike. If i dislike something i wouldnt have it :)

I really like the 6 speed swap. you will likely have an easier time getting power to the ground through that if you go boosted. How has it been for you thus far? How involved was the swap? The car is very nice all around. Good job.

Thanks, the hardest part is welding in a trans mount. But i didnt do the swap cause idk how to weld. I had milzy motorsports swap it for me. Its definitely a big difference over the aito.

I take it that Milzy Motorsports is still up and running? They sell just the mounts for the swap it looks like too. I am tempted to look into the 6 speed. I have a pretty good connection at a local junkyard, and wouldnt bother me to have to weld just one mount. Did it require a reflashed PCM?
