hey everyone! i have a 2002 alero 3.4L v6 with a short ram intake, hid headlights! im looking into upgrading my intake system to a true cold air intake and was wondering what kits yall are using. im looking at the mp racing cai right now. is anyone currently using this set up or should i avoid it? another thing is my transmission shifts really rough when i hit higher rpms, seems like 3 or 4 shudders as its shifting. has anyone had this problem and what did you do to fix it? thanks!:canada:

Mp racing is a huge scam. Dont do it.
Ebay for a cai. It works and works well. Just change filter to a spectre or k&n and It will treat you well.

I have a 3 piece ebay intake with a aem dry flow filter. Under 50 bucks for the intake and filter.
How many miles on the trans? IMO the tranny in these cars are the weakest part and fail pretty often.

Check all intake connections. An unplugged IAT sensor can cause rough shifting. At 150k it should still be a decent trans. Depends how you or previous owners treat it.
If you downshift in it, yeah you are going to cause damage.

I have the Dr Speed intake. I bought it used way back when. Today, I would just get an intake off eBay. It's just tubing. Pplease don't go to Home Depot and buy PVC Pipe for an intake
Your trans issue, sorry to say, but mine had the same problem, the fix was a new transmission.
It sounds like the electronics inside the transmission. They are way in there and it's like $700 in labor just to get to it, then the part, if you can get it, is a few bucks as well.
I was happy though because I swapped in a GAGT Transmission. I see you have an 02, so you are limited to a trans upto and including 2003. In 2004 the trans pump was changed, and nobody knows how it reacts to pre 2004 programing

make sure your shudders are not engine related like a poor tuneup before you get all trans craziy.

Mentioning this possibly being engine related, it could be a broken mount as well, either the engine mount or one of the transmission mounts....

My 03 was shifting hard and slipping when I got it. Changed the fluid and out in maxlife from valvoline with some Lucas transmission additive and been shifting smooth as glass ever since

I'd check the trans mount first, then clean MAF and check plugs. Did he give you service records with the purchase of the car? IMO a trans flush is a good idea period if it hasn't been done or its due
