So our new Alero came without a front license plate mounting bracket :) but stupid Oregon requires a front plate...

Has anyone added an alternate plate mounting bracket that doesn't put holes in the bumper that they like? I saw one at PFYC: http://www.pfyc.com/pc/GN1046/AL/Show+N+Go+Retractable+License+Plate+Frame.html

Any pictures?

I have mine tucked in the front windshield... I've seen that retractable plate holder used once on a car with a body kit... from what I've been told our stock bumpers do not have the strength or mounting points to use that... I'm not sure on that though...

I wonder if that would fit in the front center hole in the bumper.

The factory mount looks the cleanest I've ever seen by far. Just screwing the plate in there looks like crap. If you can bring yourself to drill the holes I would do that. I know in IL it was illegal to have in the windshield, although thats were I had it a majority of the time. Only 1 state guy ever gave enough of a crap to pull me over.

Depending how lax Oregon is about it, the front plate can reside in the windshield with no major issues. The law should state that you need to have a front license plate, it does not make a mention of where on the front. It would be something to look up, but very few states if any make reference to the bumper. They just say a front and rear license plate must be attached to the car.
