Picked up some type r 6 and a halfs and 6x9s. $125 for both pairs from a good buddy. Installed the 6 and a halfs today. Wow what a PITA. Had to cut up the door to make them fit. First attempt I failed miserably. Second looked better, but far from perfect. Needless to say I need to replace a door panel. I bought a type r 12 inch sub with a kenwood amp and a box made to alpine specs for the sub. Here are some pics of what I got.

Those SPR 60 speakers are real nice. I have them in my Cutlass.

You didn't have to cut the door to make the 6 1/2s fit. There's an adapter you can use, or you can make your own "adapter", which is basically a plate to mount the 6 1/2s.

I'm assuming that you mounted them on the door panel and not the door itself?

I had an adapter for my 5 and a quarters that I modified for them to fit. They didn't have enough room . The door panel sinks in and it was touching the speaker. Made me nervous so I chopped em up.

Those cabin speakers will have to be amped. The R's are only 2 ohm so when you go crank them your headunit will so 'no' by its self. all you need to mount the front speakers is a 2" adapter plate. $10 on ebay, then cut it an angle, there are several posts about it and I have pictures of on one of them. Or do what s8track did and mount them right on the panel, looks awesome if its done right

I have a small alpine amp on them right now. With Christmas coming, I have to focus on buying gifts for my kids before buying another amp. I'm gonna look into the plate you suggested. Need new door panels now lol. Thought I could make em look ok, but no such luck. On the box it says they are 4 ohms.

they might have went up to 4ohm in recent years. Mine are from the first gen they re designed the type R's. you small amp is probably enough, just so there is some extra current there, unless your wanting to go LOUD. Have fun with those though, I have been extremely happy with mine.

Looking at an alpine amp right now. At 4 ohms it would be doing 85 watts rms. Says 1000 watts peak, but not sure if that is at 2 ohms. It's the pdr-f50. It's on ebay for $310.
