Will the 4T45 E MN5 GM #4170 from a 2003 alero fit in my 2004 alero?

Thanks my tranny blew up and I'm looking to get another one. Had to rebuild the heads, the water journals were clogged solid, it's definitely been a project.

Wow. How my miles one the trans before it blew? I've been beating the crap out of mine since my engine build and she just hit 300,000 KM yesterday. Plus I think 03+ 4T45s were revised for longevity.

Unknown.

Will it fit? Yet, physhically everything will bolt up with no problems.

The "fitmnet" issue is with the programming. In 2004 GM went with a different transmission pump. It is unknown how that pump will work or react with 2003 and down programming. Otherwise I would have put a trans in from a 2007 Saturn with the 3.61 FDR, instead of the 2003 GAGT with the 3.29 FDR in my car two years ago

OK so the old tranny only had 150k on it, but I abused it hard. My dad drove 3 hours out to Maryland and 3 hours back to pick up another tranny, The problem is this tranny has a female connector on the passanger side where the cv shaft goes and my cv shaft is a female connector! The old tranny had males on both sides, this one only has a male on the left. It is out of a grand am. I do however have a cv shaft out of a chevy lumina that has a male end on it and I might be able to make it work. We will see tomorrow.

when i replaced my 03 tranny a few years back i was told by a used parts guy that the 03 was a 1 off year and only 03 fit in a 03..

So I got the CV shafts back in place, The end of the lumina shaft fit into place, but the shaft wasnt the right length. So I took the boots off of the CV shaft from the alero and the CV shaft from the lumina. Then I pulled the c clips off and pulled off the u-joints and swapped them. I had to swap the boots to because of the sizes. Then I swapped the knuckles, put it all back together and fit the alero CV shaft (now with a male end) back into the tranny. I have to order a coolant bypass pipe from GM and the car will be back together after that. I have pics of the rebuild, but they are on my old phone which broke so I'm trying to pull them off.

GM part will be here tomorrow, then insurance will be on it on Thursday. Does anyone know how to disable that beeper that plays when the door is open. I know it is tied into the speakers, but is it through the radio harness, or is there another wire running to the speaker?

It is a through the harness. Get a aftermarket harness or just match wires. If you get aftermarket without it or disable it you lose acc power.

01 and up chimes are through the radio harness. 2000 and older dont. Which means 2000 and older you can install without a harness and be fine. 2001 and up you will need a harness or you wont have chimes, acc power or a few other things I forget about.
