back when there was snow on the ground in Mchenry county, I tried some drifting, and guessing by the title my e brake did nothing. I could be going 90 on the highway, rip it up and nothing will happen. I took apart the center console and the cable is connected to the handle and moves when pulled............so what do????????

17 year old e-brake... The ratchet system it relies on is probably rotted due to corrosion. Honestly you got lucky it didn't engage and get stuck.

Solution don;t use your e-brake, drive like an adult.

My e-brake cable needed adjusting annually despite using it only a few times a year, worst e-brake I've ever encountered on any of my cars. leroBob nailed it, the e-brake handle is only for show, no touchy.

I had replaced the pads and rotors on mine. After battling adjustment for days I concluded the cables must be stretched. Wouldn't hold for crap. It's also a terrible design but...
