ok, so call me an idiot if you want, but i've never worked with switches really... and i'm not sure how this one works.

it's a rocker switch with 4 connections on the back, could someone please explain why there are 4 and what's goin on both when the switch is "on" "off".

oh, and the top pin in the picture is on the same side as the "on" position

its a SPDT - single position double throw switch, meaning you can wire in 2 separate things into and and they both go on off the same switch

ok, now which pins are for which device, and which of those pins gets 12v?

see if it has intentations that are NC or NO

which are normally closed and normally open

ok man, so i opened it up.

the pins at 9 and 7 o'clock are connected via the toggle. but the other two at 1 and 5 o'clock are connected to a little light bulb which i'm assuming is ONLY for the light in the switch.

so is this a single throw w/ light?

usually a switch doesnt need 2 seperate connections.just one which is the ground......what silent said is right, grab an ohm meter and throw the switch til you figure what pins open and close when you throw the switch......
