Actual Vehicle Weight

Hello. I'm curious about the vehicle weight listed on state registrations. My Alero, for example, has the weight of 2,820 pounds on its registration. I'm not sure if this weighing practice is common to other states, but I'd really like some feedback (from owners of any car) on what other owners have for weights on their registrations. Essentially, I want to find out if every registration weight is lower than GM spec weight (~2,900+ pounds for a GX coupe), or if my car was just made with extra thin steel or something. By the way, I have a 2002 5-speed ecotec. Thanks!

I don't have to weigh mine to register it, so I have no idea.

If I remember correctly on my registration it says it weighs 2900 something. I have a '99 2dr 3.4L

My 2003 2.2L eco was rated at 2880LBS by GM......no Idea what it really weighs

They also weigh cars full of fluids at the factory (gas, washer fluid, etc)
This could make some difference.

mine weighs 1520 kg's with me in it, I weigh about 100 kgs muliply that buy 2.2 to get pounds.

3344lbs with me and about 3/4 tank of gas, 3.4 v6.

so im guessing everyone would be around there, oh thats with subs as well and about a 40lb backpack, but whos counting :)

i completely stripped my interior the other day at the track and the lightest with me in it was 3115 lbs, FYI i weigh about 160 and i have a 99 4d with the 3400

my car weighs 3180 with me in it and full tank of gas and a trunk full of thump.. i gotta 2.2 ecotec 5spd 2 door

Look on the door stickers. the GVWR is on it.

^^That is with the car loaded with the max amount of people that it can carry

The door jam sticker says about 4000 lbs (39XX) That is with 5 people in it weight about 175 a piece a full tank of gas, and the car itself

Empty the Alero is suppost to be 3100 pounds

That's about right, with a 1/2 tank of gas and my fat ass in the car it weighed in at 3306 at the track :thumbsup:

once I had it at 3266

[Final-Reality]

A 5-speed ECOTEC coupe with 15" wheels is the lightest Alero you can find, so high 2800's is probably accurate for the curb weight. My automatic 2.4L TwinCam is somewhere in the 2900's because the engine and transmission both weigh more than yours...
