i was driving home from work and my coolant light came on shoul di just put more coolant in there or sure i mix with the water than put it in there also is the color of the coolant suppuse to be brown like

brown isnt really a good color, I'd have it checked out, at the least flushed.

Did you buy it new or used? If you bought it new, you most likely have a lower intake manifold gasket leak. Bad news. Search for that on here and you'll find lots of stories.
If you bought it used, have you checked it before? Has it changed color? It's possible someone put something in it to stop a leak before. You should still probably get it checked out.
In either case, yeah, buy coolant and add it like the container says.

i put it used no i havent checked it before. I saw the stories they had on here some before it a 2000 so i really dont one can help warrtany wise. but ill add some coolant now

be sure to stick to dex-cool, dont mix the colors.

Well, warranty or not, if that's the problem you're going to have to get it fixed. If you have a friendly mechanic, try to get them to quick take a look at it and tell you if that's the problem. It's really quite easy to diagnose.

is the engine running cooler then it normally does? whats your oil look like?

my oil looks fine no milky color or nothin i just added the dexcool with purfited water was i suppose to flush first?

a flush probably wouldnt hurt if your coolant is brown. This is usually a sign of some major problems, but sometimes its just nothing and since a flush is cheaper then a head gasket (and should be done regularly anyways ) i'd start by doing that.
