I was at the shop getting a pre-winter checkup and I asked the guy if they use dexcool for newer GM cars and he told me that they didnt have any, nor can they import it from the states. he also mentioned that the european GM service dosent use it because of some EU regulations dont allow that stuff to be in the EU because of the substances that dexcool contains. so my question is what would, if anything, go wrong if im not useing dexcool for engine coolent?

You can use the green coolant...just make sure that You flush Your cooling system well before adding the green coolant.

Doesnt prestone make a coolant that can be used in either type of coolant so it doesnt matter weather you have green or red you just add it in and it works.

yes but its expensive, and only really worth it if you just need to do a quick top up, not for a flush.

Did you buy your car in Europe or the US and ship it over there?

If you bought it in Europe, I'd think it would be already converted to run over there

i bought it in the states then shipped it here. saw the car the first time when they opened up the container doors. will never forget that day. sucks that i didnt have a camera that day.

So did you buy your car over the internet? (just curious as to how you picked it out) What year is your car?

As for the coolent....I would wait until the dexcool needs to be changed or refilled, then just flush the system and use the coolent the european GM service center uses.
