I am having problems with my turn signals not working all the time. They will work and then just turn off when i am sitting still. I can not figure out why it is doin this. Any suggestions?

do the bulbs just not work or do the lights on the dash stop flashing? I would say it is a switch if they just stop working all together, possibly somehting with the wiring or shot in the dark have someone see if your bulbs arent working.

sounds like the hazard switch problem

there was a recall for this, do a search for hazards

The Hazard switch recal was for a wire on the hazard switch has a possibily of braking off causing the whole dash not to work. The minute I go the recall I had it fixed. It was free and took like a hour. But iam not so sure they are related since it is only his turn signals.

the hazard recall does involve the turn signals.

GM recalls 783,000 cars to replace hazard switch

DETROIT, Sept 5 (Reuters) - General Motors Corp. (NYSE:GM - News) said on Friday it will recall about 783,000 of its model year 2000-2001 Chevrolet Malibu, Oldsmobile Alero and Pontiac Grand Am cars to replace the hazard light switches.

The switches could malfunction due to exposure to temperature changes, which could cause the hazard warning and turn signal lights to fail.

GM said it has not received any reports of crashes or injuries related to the recall, which includes 671,000 vehicles in the United States, 88,000 in Canada and the remainder elsewhere.

GM said that parts for the recall will be available in the first quarter next year, and it will notify owners to bring their vehicles to a dealer to have the switch replaced at no charge.

I editted his post. I didn't appreciate it either seeing as he's actually newer here than you. lol ~grouch ;)

I didnt remeber the exact details of the recall since it was last year.

But yes noextreme04 the switch is probably the problem you can go to any dealership and find out if has been changed already if it has been changed and the switch is working fine as far as the hazard lights go then it is something totally different.

I have problems with mine all the time and I didnt get a recall. If it stops working I just push in the hazard, then push it again and they will start working. Pain in the ass but I guess its better than nothing.

Iam not sure what years the recall was for but I would assume not the 2004's, I would go to your local GM Dealer and see if the problem had already been fixed on your car. If it hasnt it was a free fix takes about a hour like I have already said.

Why did you do it yourself geedog66? the fix was free for all Alero Owners unless they had previously done the change on your car.

Mine is a 99, I thought they said it was for 00 and up for some reason.

Recall was for 2000 and 2001's....Formula lists the recall in his post. I read somewhere on this forum that it's simple to fix if your car is not in the recall
