Well I just got back from Best Buy and purchased a Viper 791XV security system, its their $500 w/ remote start and the whole 9 yards. Unfortunately it takes about 3-4 hours to install so I couldnt have it done today. Also thankfully I have the best buy discount so I got it for under $200. Cant wait to get this thing up and running, it also has a little remote that tells you a whole bunch of stuff about your car. Wish i had a camera to show all the wires, but theres too many to fit into a picture small enough to load on here. Though about install myself but IDK w/ this many wires.

i got the same alarm when i worked there, except its the clifford 3.5rx or somthing (clifford and viper are the same company, its the same alarm) got it for 145 through accomadations. its still in my garage, i was saving it for a new car, which i got....but they want $330 to install it now that i dont work there! its about $180 if you do work there

yea i got quoted at $175-$200 for install, seems a little high to me, but theres too much politics involved so you have no choice <_<

Yeah, i wouldn't complain, i got stroked on mine 950.00 for everything, and now i'm gonna ask about adding lo-jak, did you know that viper(at least the system i have) is life time guaranteed?

what is lo-jak? i didnt have a chance to ask the installer today about it cause i was late for an appointment. I love the viper 791xv. the response on just a simple tap or bang on the car sets it off, it may become annoying but well worth it IMO to keep those thugs from messin around w/ my car as I start adding more and more stuff to it, I know it wont stop em, but at least it will let everyone within a good distance notice something is goin on.

For a remote start/keyless entry/and alarm installation is $199.99 at Best Buy. If you purchase one from there, it is included in the price of the unit. For employees it is $99.99 for an alarm/keyless entry/and alarm install. You will also need a Passlock bypass module for a remote start install it is $49.99 + another $24.99 for install at regular price.

lo-jack is somewhat like gps it find the car IF stolen but it will shut it off about a mile down the road if stolen also.

and i looked at my reciept at it was 750.00 and mine is not set ultrasensative i didn't want it going off when the wind blows.

Maybe in the spring, they are hellbent on being sure your not buying too much of the same thing here, especially on something like the viper alarms where they make over $300 pure profit on the 791xv and over $130 on the install. Ive bought a lot lately so if they see too much more they will question me, plus its against their policies which I wont get into...in time I will work on it for ya possibly.

I had a Alarm on my Ciera it cost 50 bucks there was 1 wire install and 4 mounting/grounding screws. It detected a Drain on the battery when you open the door there for setting the alarm of it could also be set to different sensitivety as far as contact on the car I cant remeber how many times my alarm went off when it rained or got tapped in the door or even just going off no unexplained reason. It was a bulldog alarm and yes I did buy it at wally world.

You don't really want your alarm set to go off when the wind blows or things like that, Ppl especially where I grew up tend to get piss and simply bash out your winshield with a golfball and poop. FYI

Well after having a chance to finally mess around with the alarm on my car, im actually concerned they didnt hook something up or its just not as good as it seems. I had a friend pull on the passenger door while i waited for it to go off (so i didnt have to fussle with a long alarm blast) and the alarm didnt chirp or anything, same for all 3 passenger doors. also i can still rock the car pretty good without a chirp or anything, im gonna definetely ask about this tomorrow when i go back into work, but definetely a disappointment on such an expensive alarm.

If they just pulled the handle and let go, it WON'T go off because you're domelight is only hooked up to your driver's door. This is how most cars are. If you pull the handle on any of the other 3 doors, there is no 12v source that is being used/activated (domelight) for the alarm to sense and go off. Now, if they pulled and let the handle snap back down the shock sensor may pick it up and give a warning chirp or go off (depending on how sensitive you have it)....this has nothing to do w/ the alarm, it's the electrical system in most cars....usually only the driver's door is hooked up to the dome lights

Try pullin on your driver's door....I bet ya it goes off ;)
