Hello all alermod.com'ers.. I am posting this hoping anyone has had this problem before or can point me in the right direction. Recently I had the #2 fuel injector stop working and vapor locked my engine which resulted in a bent connecting rod and fouled up piston. I originally brought the car to the dealership for the problem of smelling gas in my car. Once the new parts were replaced and car given back to me, the smell was gone. Now it is back 2 days later. It happens when the car is sitting at a stop light, in the driveway warming up, etc. Whenever the outside vent is selected, the smell of gas comes into the passenger compartment.

When I select just inside air <recirculating> the smell goes away. I have had it to the dealer <GMPP warranty> and that was the only thing they could find. The car is getting undriveable with colder days ahead in Sask here. My dealer has treated me very well, as I just had $2500 worth of work on it, and not a penny out of my pocket. They said they couldn't find any leaks in the gas tank, fuel pump, gas lines, or any other type of leak. Obviously, there is a leak somewhere.. someone suggested a charcoal canister, but I don't even know if it has one..Any insight, much appreciated! Thanks

Possible loose injector or fuel line, could just be the smell of fuel in your engine bay from your previous leak.

Check your fuel pressure regulator. I smelled gas for a couple days before finding out that it was leaking slowly. Try opening the hood, start your engine, and sniff around to find where the gas is coming from or look around for some wet spots. Just today, I replaced the o-ring gasket on it and it doesn't leak anymore. My hands still smell like gasoline... mmm... lol. The star bolts were hell to loosen up, too, because of the confined area.

I would give it couple of more days to see if it goes away. Like said previously, it could just be residual fuel smell from under the hood. Try spraying down your engine and under hood area, and then drive around and see if you still get the gas smell. If you still get it, take it back and bug the crap out of em. Something could still be loose.

quickest route...sell the car and buy either a natural gas car or a full electric car...no more gas, no more gas smell

put a piece of cardboard carton under your car and start it for a while then look at the cardboard for gas spots. i did this whith my old Delta88 to find oil leaks.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I cleaned my engine, and it still smells like gas. The smell is coming from the right of the alternator (when facing the engine straight on) down by the head.

I smelt my engine while it was idling, and no gas smell in the front, drivers side, or underneath. The smell is faint on the passenger side where the alternator/serp belt is, and gets very strong at the back of the engine (just between the engine and firewall), down in around the head area.

Not sure what is all back down there, but I am taking it back to the dealer on friday with this info, hoping they can get this solved.
