I remember it being asked before

somehow blew one of the circuits in the electrical grid in the back, you can see where it disconnected and burned out, it was the area that controlled the lighting in for the needles, speedo, etc..

the dummy lights all still work as well as everything else

but what I need to know is/ if anyone has had experience with..

I have a 99 3400, if i get another cluster out of a junkyard does this year retain the old mileage?

I remember some controversy over certain years retaining the odometer info in the cluster itself.

yea your mileage is saved somewhere else, not in the cluster.........

i'm not completely sure, but i think i heard of someone having problems with earlier years saving odo readings in the cluster, but newer years saving them in the pcm or elsewhere...

i have no idea, i just remember reading something about it. you might give gm a call or something.

think i might just to get a good idea, it's not the end of the world here and i don't want to pay out the ass for it.

Better to know ahead before i dump any money into a used one even

I got a spare speedo gauge before. If u have a 3.4L .. and 2.4L or 2.2L engine one will not work completely. When I plugged the 2.4L i got off of ebay.. the alty light stayed on 24/7. But everything else worked fine. And whatever mileage is on the cluster is the one is gonna appear when you plug it in since it is stored there. But also the BCM has some stored I believe also.. for incase warranty work or something if they use the can tool.. they can tell if you switched clusters.
