if it comes on all the time.. you need to replace the ignition key switch cylinder. Mine used to come on .. but i bypassed it.. so I don't have the stock passkey or passlock feature no more. Better than spending like 150 bucks on a new cylinder or you could get a used one from the junkyard. I just spliced in an inline resistor like 5 cents from radio shack.. and fooling the computer thinking its on working 24/7.

if it comes on sometimes.. you could have a dirty key or cylinder. Trying cleaning it first.. then if it still comes on.. then replace the cylinder.

The security light comes on in my car once and awhile when Iam driving but I need a new ignition, I just got a new key and I havent had a problem with the car not starting, setting off the passlock not allowing the car to start.

i also believe that the problem is the key. mine did it before a long time ago, since then i've lost my keys and had a new one made, it hasnt done it since.

hopefully it doesnt come back, for vtolds as well.

call a dealer, they can make a key from your VIN. i ended up getting mine free, but they may charge 32 bucks, at least that's what mine was supposed to cost.

if you want a freebie, you can try what i did.

here the salesmen are there till 8 or so, but parts, and all that all close at 5.

i called at about 4:30 because i was at work. i told them i needed a key, but couldnt make it there by 5 and asked them to leave it at the front desk. they did, and the female at the front desk was oblivious to the fact that i was supposed to pay 32 dollars for it. and i walked out the front door.

I had my key cut using my old one and it works good, but for some wierd reason one side of the key wont let me turn the car on so I have to turn the key over than it works, I guess they messed up the cut some on one side.

do you have remote start? my light comes on if i start the car with my remote then shut it off, then use the key. Not sure if you have remote start, but that is how it works for me.
