1)When installing lowering springs do you have to get new struts as well or will the strut compress to adjust to the new height of the spring?
2)Is this bad for the strut?
3)can you buy lowered struts so the original struts aren't over compressed and wear out faster?

Thanks
Gregg

Yes its a good idea to install new struts with the springs, but you dont have to. I have sprint springs and stock struts, had them on since middle of june, and everything is fine. you'd get a little stiffer ride and better handling with new struts though.

exactly what he said /\/\/\, i would recommend getting new struts, tire rack sells kyb gr2 struts for a very good price. So if you decide to replace them i would go through tire rack.

Always depends on what kind of ride you want. If you want a near stock ride, buy the Eibachs and not struts. If you want a pretty stiff ride, buy the KYB's and Sprintechs. My car rides stiffer than my rx-7 did, but I like that. I can't stand a cushy suspension.

great thanks for the info. I have 75000 on the original struts so I'm guessing they will start to go soon. I do live in Maine where potholes/railroad tracks, and salt/sand tend to chew them up faster than other US regions.

I'd hate to spend the money to take a working piece of equipment off the car and put on new just to have a better look, so I'll wait till they go bad and replace with new struts and lower springs.

Same for the exhaust. wait till it gets a hole in it then replace with the good stuff.

I'm sure some of your fellow Maine alero owners will be happy to "help" the process of your parts going bad so you can have an excuse to get new ones sooner lol

not a bad idea! If I didn't have 7500 a year going out for daycare I'd be all over it. Come on tax break, show me the money!!!
