Ok I went to Johnny Londoff Chevy yesterday to ask about a bare block 2.4 and the guy tells me he can get it to me for $3750, he can't get me the bare block only it has to be the entire motor. I also checked with STL Custom, John Matt (for you STL folks) that does custom performace motor and he tells me that the crate 2.4 is the same as the stock 2.4.

Is it true that the crate engine and the stock engine are exactly the same? If so, what is the maximum boring allow for the cylinders?

RSM Racing offers a rebuilt motor, I went to the dealership and that price is for a new motor. But Im wondering what the difference between the Crate and stock motor is(are)?

There isnt a differnce the main reason why it is called a Crate motor is because it comes in a crate, which may sound stupid to some but they do.

Guess, I need to head to the junkyard then. I thought the crate block was larger but oh well. Live and learn.
