I had some good experiences with some Pyle 12" free airs. Their competition subs are really good. I had 2 of them in my caddy. You dont need alot to make them pound, i was running maybe 250rms per sub and the poop was defening

also know as ib or inifiner baffel. any sup that can be used in a ported box can be used as free air.

ive got 2 soundstream exact 8's....supposed to be a very good sq sub, especially free air, mounted in my back dash. the install isn't complete because i broke the last dremel bit, for the 5's also going in the back dash on a mdf plate...:( i dont know if you plan on getting a 10 to mount in your back dash, but it wont fit, unless you cut out the springs that holdt he trunk up

EWWWW NO!!! lol pioneer doesn't make good subs at all

pick up a soundstream exact 10, they're all 2003 closeouts, so they're REALLY cheap. i think orignal retail was somewhere around 299, now they can be found for under 100

IMO soundstream is crap too
The only "freeairs" i would get would be a Kicker compVR (i think thats the model)
Dont get me wrong, i dont like kicker, and as far as im concerned freeair is a WASTE of time, but thats what i think.
I dont beleave infinity would sound like poop in freeair as they arent designed for that... but thats from me.. what do i know haha

the thing that makes a good free air or infinite baffle is the fs, qtc and the le among many other. there are a few god ht subs that are at good price with will work great. daytin has a good 15 ib sub and can be had for about 100 dollars

i dont think soundstream is the BEST company out there, they are very high quality though. when they got bought by the same company that owns power acoustic, nesa vesion and a whole bunch of other companies, they kept there same designers, so its the same company as before, but with a bigger budget. , but i cant believe you'd put kicker, of all companies, above them........hmmm

free-air is pretty far from a waste of time, they are the best sounding setups for all types of music, the response is smoother than even a sealed box, you do loose output and power handling, but spl isn't eveyone's thing

exacts have always been rated on top for sq among subwoofers

that's what i would like to hear, i don't need a lot of bass, it's just that i need a little extra thump, for me quality comes before spl

i forgot to mention, set the subsonic on them at like 40-50hz, they wont go below 40hz on a free-air setup. but music never goes below 30hz 99.99% of the time, and that 30-40hz is really really deep, alot of people think that subs go all the way down to 20hz...sure they can, but music cd's wont.
