I have ordered new tires, Hercules HP4000 raised white letter tires (or black on other side if I don't like the look --215/60/15)
http://www.tires-and-tyres.com/Hercules_Tires-Hp4000.jpg

I also got full moon stainless steel racing disc hubcaps
http://i8.ebayimg.com/02/i/02/a9/ad/a4_1_b.JPG

Also going to be putting in stainless steel grill inserts. Not the mesh inserts, these will be solid. Hope it looks good in the end.

The next mod will be to lower it. That should make the tires and full hubcaps stand out more.

Hope to have photos up after the first of the year.

Sounds, well... very different (in a good way :) ) Can't wait to see the pictures.

you might have trouble with full metal grill inserts because our front is angled and curved. I know i had trouble bending my mesh and thats much more flexible then a solid sheet of metal. You also might have to worry about overheating with the restricted airflow your gonna have. Other then that, your cars gonna look very different.

this should be interesting.

With the looks of those wheels and tires I would say someone get this guy a VW BUG pre 75 model. :D THis will be a different Alero for sure.

Thanks all. The new tires will be here after the first of the year, and the caps are already on the car but with black wall tires.

I've been going over the solid inserts and wondering about overheating. I'll have to keep on eye on it for sure.

Who knows, it might not work but it will be different.

Rock On~ and have a safe holiday. Don't bend those Aleros around a pole...call a cab.

I'd like to see a pic of the hubcars installed, but i'd say the whole solid grill material may be a bad idea. Maybe not this time of year, but definately in the summer. Congrats on the new sneakers though.

i agree on he needs a early bug......im more of a directional tread tire person myself.......and the hubcaps man, thats going to be a lot going on down there.......haha that sounds nasty......

and about the solid steel, i dont think its a good idea, would kill some of the airflow, some of the cold air coming in.........that stuff......

So you're just intent on making sure everybody remembers olds as a grandpa car! Ha j/k bro. I'm the resident oldschool/lowrider around here so I'm very interested to see them once they're on the car and dropped! Those hubcaps are sick IMO.

Eh_nigma
12-24-2004, 07:07 AM
Well, they are definately different... really depends on how he does them. Don't get me wrong, I don't mean painting a spiral on them with black ink to mesmorize us as he drives by :D But it's a different idea. I'm hope it turns out well *reminded of the picture with the Alero with a 6-pack exaust stack in the back* Never mind, I know it'll look good

i too had the same problem with my mesh in the middle and sides, it was a pain to bend it around the foglights and its really angled in the middle piece, i can barely see my mesh when i am looking straight on at my car it is so angled... <_<

I think he might mean something for the grill like billet style...not solid blocking it I hope....just depends on how much is blocked tho....going 70 MPH down the hwy you should still adequate air flow.

well i got the tires and racing disc's on. looks good for my budget~ next is to lower it when the old hardware goes bad, and i might just cover the fog light area with a stainless covering and not the lower radiator area. still up in the air about it all.

How's it look?

It's origional, I'll give you that much. I personally wouldn't have gone that route on my car, but if you like it, that's all that matters, man. Be prepared though, I just got a bulletin from my local hunting site, and posting those pics just made it "open-season" on your ride. I think your ride might turn into a whipping-post of sorts, so brace yourself. :P

Take the disc hubs off, they look really really bad.

99carseat
01-02-2005, 03:12 PM
that bad eh? I guess I should just go with regular hubcaps.

jabartram
01-02-2005, 03:17 PM
Maybe lowering it would help? they just offset the car to much, a lighter paint possibly might work? you need to accent the car with more bright silver now? i have nothing bad to say? it is unique.

silver mess inserts up front, silver mirror accents possibly and clear corners are now a must.

it could work if you do the color scheme right?

agreed. If there were more of the sliver, I think it would blend more, and in doing so, making it easier on the eyes.

Wow, You must be Serious as a heart attack to do that, but I must admit, It would make me look twice. Maybe thats what you were looking for. Yeah, clear corners would look awesome, I agree with whoever said to change up the side mirrors to silver, and yeah, silver accents would look tight on that too, but, that would be hard to accesorize to. Props though, you certainly have balls. NO complaints here.

AlbinoMonkeyRat

^ nothing is wrong with white-lettering, it's just not a normal mix with those hubcaps, is all. white lettering, IMO, is better suited with racing (as in drag) wheels, and mainly rear-wheel drive cars, like F-bods, Mustangs, and other pony cars.

as the old saying goes..."opinions are like a$$holes eveyone has them" and thats what makes the world go around.

Do I think a car sitting 3 inches off the ground is cool -- no
Do I think spending $400-$600 on a radio that plays music is worth it -- no
Do I think stock wheel size +2 a bit much -- yes
Do I think neon is a$$ ugly - hell yeah
Do I think being blinded by ultra white headlights from other cars is cool - no

Do I say any of these when I see them on a car posted here. No. I keep my words to my self or I pick out the positive and go on. I didn't buy the stuff so I can't have a say in things.

Happy New Year.

Whats the look youre going for is what im woundering, the only cars ive seen them on exspecialy with the white lettering is street rods. So i guess black primer and strieght pipes and huge flames are next.

I can kinda see that. I think it would look odd, but in a cool way. Kind of Alero-meets-Street Rod-meets-Bonneville salt flats racecar-ish. I wouldn't mind seeing that, but it would have to be lowered...

lake pipes would look ok here right? Perhaps a small rake from from back to front, and a chopped top :D

I guess the world isn't ready for a 50's Alero

youve got to expect some comments on somthing so different......

what i would do with your car, just suggestions

if you like the hubcabs...

drop the car with springtechs ($140, about a 1.75" drop to 2")
DARK window tint, at least 20%
clear the corners

your car will look much much better. i personally wouldn't do what you did, but i think it would look better if you did that stuff

im suprised you didn't do white walls.

Grouch
01-02-2005, 09:13 PM
Definately an interesting look. Someone photoshop that and make the car silver, lower it a bit and tint the windows. I think that would start to look pretty sharp.

99carseat
01-02-2005, 09:55 PM
well i can't make it silver but I lowered it, tinted windows, added brushed stainless to the window edges, and "fake" cleared the lens.

still too "different" for some I'm sure

It looks better that way execpt for the silver widow edges. Instead of the black windows try maybe the silver window film and that would probaly make the window trim look kick a$$.

myself, I'm a fan of the writing on tires, with respect to the vehicle - Nascar, Racecar, Larger vehicle, yes... at a glance with your Alero, no. That's the largest thing that sticks our right now. BUUUUUT... it's a start.

I give you credit on having the unique idea - no one else has those. But, the window tinting - as was mentioned - in silver would work. I'd try to get the decals/stickers for the door handles in silver. As much TASTEFUL silver trimming you can put on your car, the better. No reason though to get a paint job to match the rims though...

Looking at it though, I don't it would be so bad if the dishes weren't the size of dinner plates. If they were 15" dishes, it would be easier to pull off. But, yeah, that's just my 2 cents.

99carseat
01-02-2005, 11:26 PM
thanks, they are 15" discs.

The tires have black wall, black lettering on the other side (got them so I could flip them if I didn't like the look)

Hubcaps were only $50

all and all i'm out $50. Pull off the caps, slap on some generic 15" caps and blend back into the aleromod board, never to post a picture again.

True-true... you know, at least it's not a stretched out Cobra or Jacked up Mustang... I think you demonstrated a key part in 'custom' that we overlooked... a new idea, giving a one of a kind look, that was spurred by imagination. You took the chance, and I tip my hat to you. And I'm starting to agree with Grouch... the lowered pic is looking good.

OpalaAlero

The way I see it, is if everyone online doesn't like it, people are probably laughing at your car in person.

But one thing you should do, is tint the window to 20%. I have 20% tint on my opal blue car, and it looks awesome. So definately look into that.

I hate to say it, but I told ya so. :D For real, I think it's gonna look nice later on, it's just that right now the hubcaps stand out a little. I totally agree with isellalerodrop with his silver window tint idea...never thought of that. It would look REALLY good though. B)

springtechs wont drop it that much, there will be some wheel gap, not much though. id consider flipping the tires around, although it will cost a little $$$. the tint really makes it look better, that color looks good with tint.
