Tire Size / Chains

Ok, first off, can anyone tell me the tire size of our cars, like what i would find on the tire itself(i've just got the standard 5 spoke rims). Normally i'd just walk outside and look but considering my part of ohio got about 2 feet of snow dumped on us last night, i dont think thats going to be happening. Also, if anyone uses tire chains and has any experience with them what are some good types/brands. thanks

i got 1 foot here and my mom barrowed my car to go to work and a anow plow put a whole in the passanger side door

Jesus, I don't care how much falls in Ohio, you don't need chains on your alero. Those were just for old big ass RWD cars with no traction.

LOL I agree with Malero, If you want lotsa traction go buy studded tires, but you should NEVER need tire chains on ur alero,

If the weather is that bad that you need tire chains on your FWD car. You probly shouldent be driving.

I had a pair of studded tires on my 90 3.1L Lumina and I never once had any traction problems.

and I don't know how bad winters get in ohio but I live in saskatchewan canada and if I don't need tire chains i seriously doubt you need tire chains.

Actually, im not jesus, but maybe with a beard and some white robes i could pull it off. And i dont really see the problem with wanting extra traction in the snow, no one exactly likes their car in a ditch, including me. But, since no one has exactly anwsered my question I dug my car out and found they're P215/60R15's......now that was easy. But i can thank the 3 wise men for their interesting reply's.

Tire chains are a no no. There is not enough fender well clearance, if one slips, you will tear apart your fender. Get some good snow tires. I have a set of Nokian Hakapellita's and we got 2 feet plus the drifts this morning. I crawled right through it.

No one probably answered the question cause they don't like answering questions that could be easily searched. There is a thread that is everything about tires/wheels/etc.

Well, you clearly can't use that function on your computer (or use proper grammer "you're", not your)

This is a forum for alero owners to ask advice on their cars/ parts etc. If you ask a question, be prepared for a range of answers. I tried to help you out with a link to the thread all about tire sizes and types, and gxryan tried to help you out too by suggesting using studded tires, but you clearly are to concerned with being a smart ass.

People aren't going to help you out if you act like a jack ass to them

tire chains are for ice not snow. there rendered useless in snow. just something to make a lot of noise.
get a good set of snow tires if your worried about it

Autozone has tire cables, they are safer on a car than chains, plus they fit really tight, not sloppy like chains.

Oh and mobs, chains work better in snow, studded tires on ice. Think of all those signs you in the mountains of Colorado.

Old thread but, i bought SAE class s clearance diamond pattern chains for the front tires for my alero 215 60 r15 and I have used the 3 times heading up into the Canadian Rockies, they are a saviour when your going down a steep mountain highway covered in ice and snow! Helps you keep your speed down. Helps going up too, even though your speed is restricted with them on it doens't matter because in those conditions you go slow anyways....its not fun putting them on out in those conditions but at least you'll be alive when your through the pass. Good for the steep roads to the resorts as well.
