View Full Version : Painting The Interior

Hey all,
I recently joined the land of family man and purchased a minivan. This left us with my Alero and my wife's Civic. The plan was to sell the Alero, but after driving the Civic for a month, I realized how much I want to keep the Alero and I've been pysched about doing some real mods.
Here's my question...my Alero is white so I want to accent the inside with white vents, gear panel, glove box, etc. I know they sell kits, but I would like to try my own custom paint. Has anyone ever done this? If so, what kind of paint is good for this? I've heard of paints that don't last and chip. I want this to last for a while.
If this isn't a good idea, where can I find colored interiors to install?
Thanks!
Grouch

painted interiors never look good unless the interior is fiberglassed.

i consider the dash part of the interior, thus it should not be painted until it has been fiberglassed.

not everybody can/knows how to do fiberglass...and you don't paint it, you dye it...i did mine and its not too bad...i wish it were fiberglass, don't get me wrong, but its impossible for me to do it...so using dye was my only other option...
bash my pic if you must, but its just to give example as to what it CAN look like...

^ looks decent, aside from the seat covers...I know seats/katskins are expensive though.
what dye did you use? did you take off the steering wheel or just mask around it to dye it?

1. seat covers have been gone for a while...
2. used dye from canadian tire.
3. had to take off steering wheel to get dash off anyways, so i dyed it too...that didn't work too well tho because its a high use area.
