Just by pure name recognition I would go with this one.
RK Sport Wai (http://www.rksport.com/product/p_020994010/view_detail)
RK Sport Cai (http://www.rksport.com/product/p_020933211/view_detail)
Iam not real sure if the Cai fits on the Alero.

I have a custom CAI, I keep it in all year round, I live in snowy Toronto.....for optimal performance, I would say CAI....I love mine.
I got one made for about $250 canadian plus filter

if you get alot of rain, flooding or snow, i'd suggest a wai. the only reason being that if water gets into a cai, it can destroy your engine.

also if your afraid of rain or snow you can easily get a bypass valve with a CAI

have no fear of water get this AEM Bypass valve (http://www.intakeone.com/AEM/AEMairBypassValves.html) with a CAI. If its too expensive go with a WAI. but for a 4 banger you should get a CAI.

my intake is way down in the bottom of my wheel well, and it goes through rain and snow, there is a lot of tubing to get it to the engine, and it requires a lot to suck up water....but the bypass may be the best solution.

You might consider contacting Tranzgenic. I don't think they have one right now, but they can make one for an Alero if there's anyone in their area to be the test mule.
