Well, I've decided I'm not gonna lower my Lady. I've been looking and wheels and stuff haven't decided on any just yet but I will.

Just letting you guys know so I can get some input on what ya'll think of this?

^.^ Cheese!

honestly i wouldnt drive my alero if it wasnt dropped... too embarrassing, if i want a 4X4 i'll get a truck ;) at least a truck would get better gas mileage <_<

I dont know many 4x4 trucks that get better MPG than us, but I do agree with the not lowering it thing...its one thing that makes yours different from the stock version...it is a must haha

my roommate averages 19 mpg in his 4X4 ranger... i average 15mpg in my alero, no matter how i drive.

All cars look better with a drop, just my opion. But its your car do with it what you feel fits your design that your going for.

:huh?:

I average 28-32 mpg. But I'm easy on my car. And I do alot of highway driving. (I have to drive 15 miles to get to the nearest 5000+ populated town.)

I'm actually afraid of lowering my Alero... I scrape the front valence quite a bit as it is. If I were to lower it, I would have to be EXTREMELY careful.

Actually my car isn't as "high" as other Aleros, space isn't that big. :: shrugs :: I noticed that awhile back when I was at work. I came out and seriously my car was in a square with these other Aleros ^.^. Maybe thats why I don't want to.

But I think my decision will be based on what type of wheels and tires I get. Don't ya think.

My ex gf is helping me with most of the outside of my car, her sister owns a auto shop and they said a 1.75" drop might do it? :: shrugs:: I dunno.

:D I had some of the best bacon just now. Mmmmmmm! baaaacoooon!

i love my 2.25 in drop i got. i am going to get air soon unless i can get a soltaice befor i save up for the air. drop the car the more the better. but my neibors love my car when it plows the streets.

I wanted to go lower when I bought my springs but the boys at (yup u guessed it) BIG O TIRES said they didn't make springs for the Alero that would make it any lower.
I need to shop around a little more

Doesn't look too bad. People over exaggerate how cars look with big rims and no drop. It seems only people with Aleros notice it. I mentioned my stock gap to a friend and he thought I was crazy.

certain sites on the front page of aleromod.com sell springs for our cars. check those out. you're looking at about a 2" drop (ballpark average) and roughly $200, just for the set of springs.

you might want to consider going to places other than Big O tires, cuz it seems like they're giving you the big middle finger.

I agree, I don't think it's that noticeable, unless it's a side by side comparison or someone says "check out my drop". But once I do notice I think it looks better dropped. Doesn't sound like it's worth the coin, effort, or rougher ride, and time can be better spent doing other things than having to pre-survey parking lots for speed bump sizes to make sure it's ok for your car. And, like nik1128, I already scrape the front end of mine more than I want to  .

Exactly. I doubt i'll drop it once I put my 18's on. And to me it looks like the tire takes up most of the gap.

Doesn't look bad when its not lowered is my point. Obviously it looks better dropped but its not really that big of a deal.

you run over curbs? lol... yea, you might not want to lower it..... otherwise you might risk more than just a flat tire.

18's with no lowering springs will not look terrible. The car will look better lowered, but it won't look bad either.

I like peanut butter!!!!!!!!!!!

The smooth kind...

But, um...yeah I run over my curbs alot! My sister stared at me (btw has anyone seen a Geo prizm mod?) And coming out my drive (really deep drop ) so, I'd mess up my car even more. ^^

cars gonna look funny at stock height with 18s. just drop it, it will definitely look better.

and for whoever said they arent lowering theirs because they run over curbs, just quit running over curbs.

:D We are I just...dunno I get off topic sometimes...most the time...all the time.

Ya'll are awesome, I might lower it but not much!

I have another question, if you get a body kit; do you have to lower it? Should you lower it first, before the kit or after? Or just whatever?

you don't have too, but let's put it this way, IMO the only thing worse than a non-lowered car with some nice aftermarket wheels is a non-lowered car with a kit and wheels

based on my opinion of you from reading your posts, i would put the kit on, drive it for a month or so just to get used to it, then lower.......

no matter how careful you are though, i guarantee you are going to scrape

oh, as a owner of a very, very low AAS kitted alero, i would highly suggest you save money for a splitter too, it will save you in the long run....

As soon as my 18's went on the car, I desided that it needed to be lowered. The gap was just to much. I almost barfed.

OpalaAlero
01-12-2005, 08:49 PM
I'm already saving, but it seems like so much money for a mere 2 inches.

kwhauck
01-12-2005, 08:54 PM
so double it and get 4 inches!!!!!

it's not that bad i deal with it, when summertime comes, i am gonna deal with that with 19s........

mike2002
01-12-2005, 09:13 PM
no need to convince them to lower it, once they have 18's they'll want to, eibachs at the very least

someone here had a razzi kit, stock rims and no drop, that looked ok, would have looked better dropped though

yeah...no way i would have bought the alero if i didn't see pics of a dropped alero first, i think the stock ones are ugly......(puts on flame suit) well, most of them at least.
