Tire Clearance

Hey everyone, I was looking into getting a set of eagle alloy 077 18 x 8's for my alero, I love how they compliment the car, especially when mated with a set of lowering springs. I would like to have a slightly wider tire for added grip around bends and under heavy acceleration. I have 245/40/18 in mind, however, I am very concerned the width would be enough to rub against the shock. I have seen a few N Bodies out there running 235's but was curious for something a bit wider. Please let me know what you all think, or if you've seen any alero's out there running 245's. Thanks!!

^^ 18X* is fine you won't have any major steering problems, but where did you find 18X8 those are rare.
