i found a company(easy street a.k.a airliftcompany.com) that makes ready made air struts for the oldsmobile alero and i was just wondering if anyone has heard anything about them. if they are any good and if i should spend the money on them or get others. any help will be appreciated. thanks

If air struts are the same as air cylinders (probably are) then they are the best way to go. My friend put air cylinders on his contour because on his second test run the 2 air bags in the front blew because they rubbed against the wheel. The cylinders don't rub and are the more reliable source and they put your car up and down faster . But you just won't have the cool sound the bags make. Hope this helped.

i had easy street on my alero. very good system for the car. air bags are less bumpy as cylinders will be. these struts are made for our cars so they dont run anything and they are a direct bolt on.

here is my thread on em. http://invision.aleromod.com/index.php?showtopic=7080

check out my cardomain too to see the air system in the trunk

bumpy kinda, like a car lowered 2 inches prolly. not going to be smooth cuz its not a truck with shocks and all that. but its amazing how it handles

did you ever get around to painting your tank and if so how hard was it? did you ever get your subs back in the trunk.

Pimpalero03

no , i didnt want to take poop off the tank. once u seal all the threads ur not gonna want to undo them. its a pain. as for subs, no i just amped my speakers and left it at that.

did you order the kit from them or just piece it together? i was just wondering if that tank is enough. so you think i should paint mine before installing everything? you didn't have to cut fenders or anything did you?

forbidden
02-05-2005, 12:08 PM
well if you have basic car know how then you could do it.. Its all bolt on.

as far as the mustang ill have to check of the price of the strut bags, most of the stang guys go for speed so I dont have many requests for that car. For the most part I am sure it would be right about the same price as the Alero

That's a good price for all that. I'm kinda wishing I didn't get a final 500 'cause I sold the lowrider and miss having bags. they are so much fun! I had Aim industries www.truckin.com air struts up front. had them for around 3 yrs! never a problem at all. Even drove for 60 miles w/ 0 psi b/c i blew a line and had yto get home to fix it. That was fun going that far sitting 3/4" off ground and ride rough as hell. I beat the hell outta them and never a problem. they use the firestone 2500lb bag in them too. They cost me $560 shipped ready to bolt in!

I am not sure... If I had to guess I would say you would have problems... I think you would be fine with 20x 7.5 but I know there are not alot of that size around

Hey forbidden is your stuff all life time warranty and how would you compare it to a kit like air ride tech. if you know some pluses and minuses about them? If your kit is as good as theirs I might be interested in the future (maybe summer when I got some cash)?

as for as the strut bags the air ride tech's are better but they also retail for $995 per an axle. As far as the air managment kit (valves, compressors) My kit is all VERY good brands that will not break down on you. My kit includes the Air lift bag struts that are still VERY good they are right below the air ride tech struts. As far as warranty no matter where you get it from air ride does not come with a warranty. Except for like defects If there is some that breaks and its a manufacture problem then yes it would be covered by a 1 year warranty.

that is why i went with airlift company. everything is warrentied for a year. and the struts/bags are warrentied for life. so when it came time to do install, i chose to have it done proffessionally that way when and if something happened, i could jsut take it somewhere instead of having to deal with it. like when my back bag blew from a razorblade slit in it, i drove it in, dropped it off and he got the part and fixed it and i ahd it back next day. the alero hasnt had one problem since then. the dick that opened the packaging box used a razor blade and it slit into the airbag, but not all the way through. so when i raised it a few times it gave. but warrenty and having someone else deal with it is sweet

So your kit that is $2,099 that has everything including struts, compressor, tank, line, controller, fittings, and everything you listed before? Sorry about all the questions just like to research stuff before I pay 2k or 3k for it.

Also
How much drop?
Is that kit 2 way or 4?
Is it plug and play?
Do you have a site I could look at it?

Thanks for you time!

I am a Dealer for Air Lift so as far as a warranty, As statted ON Air lifts site there is a 1 year warranty on the bags. and a lifetime on crimp failure. There is no one the warrants bags for life. These are only if the bag had a manufacture problem. As far as the install gos its not hard you can have it all done within a day. If you start in the morning you will be going "Psst" by the evening. It all bolt in. The compressors, valves also have a 1 year warranty.

Yes the kit has it all... here is a pic of the front bags and what air lift says about them

as far as Plug And play it comes with a 10 switch pre wired switch box your choise of color all you do is hook up 9 wires (has easy wiring guide) and your done.

the kit has 8 valves that mount right on the direct port tank so that makes it faster and an easier install.

And ask all the questions you want its alot of money to spend

Increase your performance and lower your Alero. Our 9-way adjustable dampening air strut is just what you have been looking for. 100% bolt in design. Engineered to ride and perform better than a coil over set up, with the added benefit of adjustability! Built to handle the higher pressures of today's "fast bag" controllers, we warranty our struts to 180psi, and a one year on manufactures defects. Don't give up your drivability just to "dog leg"! Take control and roll low!

Right now I am just running 18" but got the 20's. As far as my set up I have smc 3/8" valves 2 Viair 450's 8 gal direct port tank, chassi tech strut bags. CCE 10 switch box. my tank is mounted under my car with the compressors inside the trunk. I am going to upgrade to the airlift struts and go with 1/2" valves

02-13-2005, 11:51 AM
Well its all apart right no but its a direct port tank so the valves mount on the tank just like the tank I sold you. There are 4 1/2" ports on the side and that where the valves are My tank is going to be under my back bumper.

no there shouldn't be any problem mounting them under the car. The bags in the airstrut picture look like universal air suspension double plays, are they? I've had those and the triple play's 14" of lift in the back, now that's crazy! I had 2 450c's, 5-gal 4-port chrome tank. chassis tech airstuts in front, universal air suspension triple plays in back, 4 1/2" Parker gold valves in front and 4 1/2" fill to 5/8" drop Parker gold valves in back. I've done dogleg and 3-wheel in that car! with different back combo's of course!

in the rear they go straight into the trunk, for the front you can just run them along the rail to jack the car up, they will be ok there. Thats where i ran my hydraulic lines and ive never had a problem.
