How often should I replace my fuel filter on my 2.4litre Alero Coupe. Does changing a fuel filter with a new one help gas milage? I changed my fuel filter at 60,000kms and now I'm at 89,000kms so am I close to having to change it again?
Any opinions?

Much appreciated

ok thanks a bunch for your help. I think I'm close to changing the fuel filter then. I'm at 29,000 kms since the last fuel filter change so I'll get it done this March.

So, how exactly do you change the fuel filter? I've never done it and i have 30,000 miles on my car? And if it only takes half an hour its something i need to be doing.

It's a nightmare... gas sprays on you and you've got to squeze under the back of your car to do it. I used the above link which tells you all the info you need to know. But from now on I go to a mechanic.. and he can get sprayed with gas instead.

sprayed with gas.......hardly ever do i get sprayed......it dribbles out but no more than that......how much do you pay your mechanic to do it? to me its only a shade harder than an oil change.......

i'd change it every 10k miles, but i think changing the fuel filter is easier than changing the oil

I tried to locate it on my 2001 2.4L and I couldn't find it. Is it right by the fuel tank and hiding behind something?
