Ok, let me start off by saying I KNOW about all those a/f calibrators out there that claim "20+HP" and crap...But check this out:

My friend has a 97 Grand Prix GT and he bought this for his car and had a local dyno shop install it, tune it, and do a before/after dyno. He gained 21HP to the wheels with JUST this mod alone. Also, we went to the track this past fall and he ran a 16.2 in the 1/4 w/ his GPGT and I'd walk all over him whenever we raced..well tonight we decided to test out this "21 HP gain". He beat me by about 2 or 2 1/2 carlengths....when before I used to take him by about that much...thats a HUGE improvement! This AFC says it'll work for ANY 3 or 5 wire GM MAF sensor (it plugs right up to ours..I tried it) He is going to let my borrow his and we're gonna tune it at that local shop on my Alero and see if it works..if it does, I'm buying one. I will have dyno results to show when I do this. But for now I thought I'd share this with all of you guys.

so this is basically gonna allow you to trick the pcm into adding more fuel but you can tell it to stop before you're actually running rich i suppose?

looks like it could work, let us know what you find out.

depending on which one you need, thats like $170......wouldn't the dhp do this stuff and more?

yea let us know how it works out on the alero....when you go to get it tuned, what do they have to adjust?

I dunno about "20 hp wheel gain", my friend has an eclipse with a SAFC that he uses to tune his engine while running nitrous...and when he tunes it without nitrous its not that noticable of a difference...and his safc is alot nice than this, paid 3-4 times as much for it

so fellow aleromodders, dont get ur hopes up

Eclipses and aleros are 2 different cars with 2 different engines. plus your friend's SAFC (i'm guessing the one from apex-i) is different from this one. maybe it adds
the power maybe it doesnt. the tuner with a dyno at their disposal can probably tune the car a little better than someone who does it themselves. only the dyno will tell......

exactly, it's very possible to gain 20 hp with a perfect fuel map for your mods/climate/altitude... and not even dhp can do that.

whoa. Good find, 1White. Please keep us posted, and make SURE you document what settings worked best for your climate, mod combination, and altitude. :)

Chad, my friend had R&T's do it. I think they charged $115 for tuning he got like 7-8 runs on the dyno. That's not bad considering only 3 runs costs $75 if you wanna just dyno.

I will probably be getting this right after I get my throttle body...it'll probably be somewhere around the beginning of summer or sooner...I will definitly be sure to document everything!

Why exactly isnt this in 3400 specific?

ehhh, why would it be? it works for more engines than just the 3400.
