I had the lower intake manifold gasket replaced on my 3,4L Alero, and since then I have a «soft gas pedal». The tension on the pedal isn't the same anymore, there is a «dead zone» on it, I really have to solicit the pedal in order to GO.

I took the car back to the dealer, but they said the car was OK. I know it isn't. ( I know my car after driving it for over a year). I then took it to another dealer for a second opinion, same result 'the car is OK' they say, BUT IT AIN'T.

What could they have done to change the tension on the gas pedal when replacing the lower intake manifold gasket? How can I guide my dealer in order to correctly diagnose my problem?

Please help me if you can, my Alero isn't fun to drive anymore :(

just tell them what you told us. The gas pedal is soft, and it has a dead zone....

If they say its ok again just say: BITCH NO ITS NOT, FIX MY DAMN CAR

that should work.....

Sounds to me like something to do with the throttle body, which does come off when doing the manifold gaskets. What I would do is take it off and give it a good cleaning and see if that does the trick.

Or check the actual tension of the throttle cable coming off of the throttle body. They might not have put on quite as tight when they put everything back together.
