I woke up this mourning and when out to start the alero to discover that my key won’t turn from the off position in the ignition. I don’t know what’s wrong with it I checked to make sure that it was fully engaged into park and it is but the bloody key just won’t turn.
What can I do?

Put your key in and out of the ignition really fast a couple times, it is probably just frozen.

Don't our keys have a chip in them? Not sure.
If they do I don't think that would be a good idea.

Some of the keys have chips in them, they make it so the car wont turn on but you can still crank the motor. It sounds to me like he cant turn it at all, you can also try a different key.

No I can’t turn it at all. It’s stuck in the off position and I have tried both sets of keys, wiggling the steering wheel, and checked to see if park was fully engaged but none of those worked.

depending on how old your car is, it might be your keys have worn down so much that they ignition cylinder doesn't recognize the keys anymore.

Maybe your fuel pump is dead.

i dont think that would cause the key not to turn in the ignition....good thought though

Did you try turning the steering wheel all the way to the left and turning the key at the same time.
Are you using the right key? I have a pontiac grand prix and it has the same shape key with a pontiac logo on it and it doesn't work in my ignition either.

Isnt there a security thing where if your key wont turn to leave the key in the ignition for about 5 min?

GM extended warrenty is the shiznit. They towed my car from my house to the dealership fixed my ignition cylinder and reprogramed my ant-theft or something like that. All for a grand sum of $ 0.00. :pimp:
