It's 1/4 inch striping with 3/4 of 1/4 inch spacing. :P
I like the chrome stripes, but I'm not sure it looks appropriate on my car...
Here's what they look like and I'll go shoot a pic of them on the car and post it up.

i'm not one to nit pick but the lines dont match up and they dont look good at all. Your car is too clean and they break that up.

I noticed that. They line up, just not when they're on the car  Stupid trunk lid.

Thats what I was gonna say...although I am not a fan of chrome lipped doors trunks hoods or roofs. Sorry...no offense there ma'am.

^ ok.
That chrome lip is just stick-on poop from a long time ago that never got taken off. It's coming off eventually along with the Chevy sticker.

Just a thought but try this
There are 2 little bumpers on the lid 1 on each side try & screw them in a little that might make the trunk lid go down more to line up the taillights.

That or adjust the whole hook....PITA

I'll have to try adjusting those bumpers... Someone suggested adjusting the ones for the hood, too, a while back, but when I did, the front lined up and it made the middle of the hood rise above the fender.

i think it looks good from a distance, a lot of things on cars show imperfections up close, if you like em, keep em, it's your car, not theirs.....

Thanks. They look good at night, but there really isn't anything to carry the lines set from the chrome around the sides of the body.
I guess it's one of those 11th toe situations. I'll prolly just pull the chrome stripes off.

i agree that chrome alone looks good, as long as you have it somewhere else on your car. I'll be redoing mine this spring, we had such a cold winter that after 3 years of being on my car, the chrome tape actually cracked in some places. I had 1/4 inch spaced 1/8th inch apart, but the wider chrome tape had problems going around the corners and bubbled abit. I think I'll do 1/8inch chrome tape and 1/8 inch apart. Alittle more work but it should stick on the bends alot better. Anyone done 1/8th inch tape 1/8th inch apart that could post pics? I'm also thinking of running a strip around the outside of the light to cover all the ends, but i may just use silver vinyl tape over the edges because the vinyl curves SO much better.
I never thought that my how-to thread would get hit so many times, i'm glad to see this is a cheap mod that alot of people are choosing to try! And i haven't seen too many other cars with these stripes on either, its like an aleromod thing.
I was thinking of maybe putting the stripes on diagnolly next time, what do you guys think that would turn out like?
smlzalero
02-27-2005, 12:32 PM
^ Your how-to came in really handy!
I thought about going diagonally, but I decided to leave it straight for the first try. I also think a stripe around the outside givess a nice, cean look, and I would do it if I were you.
I think it would look sweet if you stripe them how it looks in your avatar!
stealthlero
02-27-2005, 04:49 PM
^^ that would be awesome if he could do that like in his avatar, i'm gonna pinstripe mine sometime this spring when it warms up a little and my car can stay clean for more than a day....

im giving you a neutral opinion, i dont really know what to make of it, i suggest you get some sort of SMZ symbol in there, not a huge one but like a little one, like you designed. i think that would look cool. if you still dont understand what i msaying look at the back of crazytaxi's car and where there are the olds symbols, yo ushould put your symbol.
smlzalero
02-28-2005, 11:27 AM
Damn, that's a sweet idea! Since I ordered my gauges a few days ago, that would be cool. Thanks Alero. I tried to do a lil somethin at first, but it was turning into poop, so I just did straight stripes.
I bet if I move the stripes closer together a simple cutout would work... I will try this and post a pic in a day or so.

And thanks for all yall's input! :)

Ok. right off the bat i'll say that I'm a lazy bitch, so I didn't read all the posts. ( well, I didn't ready ANY past the 1st page :P )
Anyhow, I think your only mistake was taking the lights off of the car to do the job. If you would have done the job with the lights still on the car, you would have seen how the stripes weren't lining up, and would have done something differently.
I DO however, like how you used the chrome in your design. Once I saw the pic of the lights on the car, I think your design accents your wheels nicely. Not to mention, you deserve kudos for doing something origional.
My advise is to just leave them be until warmer weather hits. Then grab a 12 pack, a bottle of sunscreen, and a lawn chair...then restripe the inner tailights to match the outer ones. B)
smlzalero
03-03-2005, 08:57 PM
Well, I took them off today before i went to work, so .... and I took them off because it's waaaaaaaaaaay easier to mess with it inside no a table, at least for me it was. (not to mention it's 30 degrees warmer inside :P )
And now, i'm going to redo them with a cutout. :)

 to get the stripes off? No, it's not that they're stuck on good... it's just that there are a hundred of the little f***ers to pull off.
All gone now, tho. I think I'm going to do the tint spray instead. :)
