I was wondering which size rims you all have and which size tires as well. How good do the 18's fit on our cars? I have a set of rims picked out and don't want to choose the wrong size. Any info would be nice - how 18's fit in wheel well, how much to lower, steering, etc., etc., etc.

13" 100 spokes, the rwd ones
some alero's look good on 17's, with a drop and/or gfx, 18's are the best though

If you have the cash, go with 18's. Seems like the price jump is between 17's and 18's though, some 17's can be had for hella cheap.

It was only a $200 jump in price for the 18" rims w/tires. So, price isn't a concern. I was wondering how they perform and fit on our cars. Do they rub the wheel well when turning and how much of a drop can I do (1"-3")?

Sorry about the double post. AOL sucks! Damn computer is so slow with AOL. Kicks me off line all the time and double prints everything and half the time it won't respond.
Anyways, back on topic. Any info would be great.

with 18s and 225/40/18 tires, you wont have any rubbing problems regardless of which lowering spring u use.

Definitely go with 18's
I orginally got 17's when I first got rims and now I am going up to 18's because they look much better in my opinion.

Yeah, they look huge in the pics with my car, but they're 17's alright...here's a pic of them on Stephen's ride....

Hmm. I'm sure they'll look bigger on your car since it's black.

Well, maybe, but I gotta think that the wheel gap being smaller on my car will help a little too. I've noticed that the stock ride-height doesn't look near as bad on a black car. Maybe because the wheel gap's "shadow" isn't as noticable against a darker color? To get back on topic, definately go with 18's if possible.
On a side note: If there's anyone in the central NY area looking for a set of Enkei RS-6's in 17's, let me know. I've got a contact who's selling a set wrapped in decent tires for 4-500 bucks, depending on if he has to drive to meet the buyer. Hell, for $400.00, I might just buy them to swap on from time to time just for fun.

so when you change the rim size, do you notice much difference in speedometer reading? like if you got 18's as opposed to like 15's, the speedometer would read slower than the actual speed...correct?

no, get the correct tire size and you'll be fine.

I have 18 and 17, and the 18 definately looks better. However, I bent 2 of my 18" rims this winter on the crappy highways in NJ, they forgot to maintiain them this year. If you do a lot of driving and the roads are poor, and your Alero is your daily driver, 17 might be the way to go. But I love the look of my 18" a lot more.
