I tried to search and found nothing about this. I was driving home tongiht and about a mile from home my Anti-lock light and low trac came on and stayed on the rest of the way. Now I notice when I turn they key to the on position without starting the car I hear a pretty loud clanking noise from under the hood and the same two lights eventually come on after I start up. It almost shounds like someone dropped a bunch of quarters under the hood or something. I also occasionally hear the same noise when I release the brake. Any help is appriciated. I just hope it isn't too serious.

Normally with the two lights it would be a wheel bearing but I don't know what is up with the noise underneath the hood?

this has been covered so many times.....do a search for abs and you find lots of posts......more than likely your hub is bad/ or the snesor is bad which both require you to get a knew hub.......as far as the noises open your hood and try and find out where the noise is coming from....

I dunno about the "quarters under the hood" sound, but bigD is right on the money with his post. The wheel bearing being bad would also explain the sound that happens when you release the brake. Once you release the brake, the bearing is allowed to "be sloppy" again, even if only by a few thousanths...best advice is to have your local mechanic check the hub that's on the side where you're hearing the noise. If you can spare the cash, change both the hubs....chances are, if the one is bad, the other's right behind it, and you're better off safe than sorry IMO.
