Now that I have the 3 cheapest things for performance. My warm air intake, header and cat back exhaust. What is the next cheapest thing to boost performance for a reasonably good price? Throttle Body from RSM? Underdrive Pulleys? Please someone give me some good ideas.

where did you get your WAI and header?.....and did the header bolt right up to the stock exhaust?

I got the WAI from Rksport.com, it's the high flow intake. And my header I got from Pacesetter is for the cavy/sunfire, I got it put on, then the connector pipe into the cat and then 2.5 inch piping from cat to my camaro style flowmaster muffler.

Lower it.

A lower car will respond better in the turns. It doesn't increase HP

Performance brakes, becasue 60 to 0 is important too

I was planning on getting sprint lowering springs in the next few months. But the brake thing is a good idea. How much do those usually cost? For a good pair that is. Do you think it would be worth the money to get my auto swapped for a 5 speed? I know you got the auto and of course you got the 3.4 but what other performance stuff will get me lower into the 15's like you reddog?

Well for now I'd keep the auto tranny. They can be a bit expensive to swap out. You will have to change the PCM with a tranny swap.

Underdrives help a little. If you're going to get the TB, I'd say get the manifold as well. I'm not too sure what is out there for the 2.2 Eco. You could extend the intake a bit to make a CAI, and use that on the track.

The right tires and aftermarket wheel will help a lot too. A lot of wheels today are lightweight, and better tires will give better traction off the line.

Powerslots are a good brand of rotors and the Raybestos pads on PFYC work well with them. I have the PS II on the front and reg. PS in the rear.

Take out your spare and jack at the track. This will save you about 30 lbs. That is a lot of weight to take off. If you use the WAI on thetrack, just remove your driver's side headlight :thumb:

Good luck at your quest for speed. :thumb:

Thinks for all the help Redog. And if anyone else out there who has the ecotec give me some more options. Yes the header hooks right up to the stock cat.

i believe the sprint lowering springs lower the car 2 inches. are these ones pretty good or should i go with eibach? i think eibachs drop is only like 1 1/2 inches. i rather have 2 inches but what do you guys think?

i'm not sure about the intake manifold. where can i find aftermarket intake manifolds for the ecotec? i never even seen one for the ecotec.

The Ecotec doesn't really need an intake manifold replacement until 350 HP if i remember correctly. There was a good site on how GM modified it for the drag car.

Were you able to put the header on yourself? If so, how hard was it? I try to do as much as I can myself to save some money. Only thing I couldnt do was the exhaust.

You should go with the sprint springs. They work really well especially when combined with strut tower braces. The handling is great. And they are cheaper than the Eibachs.

Yeah, im interested to know how you like the Pacesetter heads, im giving some serious thought to them, but im not sure. Notice anything from it?

In either case it cant hurt, he has allready gotten a Headder, that the eco dosent need till over 300hp as well...
The thing i would think about if you havent gotten it allready would be a high flow or 3 inch cat and a test pipe from the headder to the exhaust that you have.
And yes Lower, STB's and struts, and as redog has said brakes. Verry important.
Throttle body, Cams, ummm.. Short shifter? if you have a 5spd.... Guages? thats pritty cheep...

NO I DIDNT PUT THE HEADER ON I HAD THE MUFFLER SHOP DO IT WHEN THEY PUT THE 2.5 INCH PIPING FROM CAT BACK. IT SOUNDS PRETTY GOOD AND HAS SOME GET UP AND GO. HEY OLDSMAN, DOES THE THROTTLE BODY REALLY HELP OUT SINCE OF THE MODS I ALREADY HAVE? AND WHERE CAN I GET SOME CAMS I CAN JUST THROW ON WITH NO ADDITIONAL PARTS? THANKS FOR ALL THE INFO GUYS.

Yeah, I agree with this, and the underdrive pulley and lower engine mount. Those are all pretty cheap and you will see a difference in acceleration and less wheel hop (with the lower engine mount).

Plus lower it with the sprint springs....this cause less body roll and weight transfer when accelerating and braking as well as cornering.

how hard is it to do the whole lower engine mount thing?

Read my other post... its pritty easy.. but im not 100% that its correct for the car, in a few weeks- a month i will know if there are any issues... it seems like it should work ok, and for the amount of good that my old mount was doing it seems to make a HUGE differance, little to no wheel hop, and seems much more responcive on take off.

It should be even easyer then what i had to do... because it should be a bolt in item. but we'll see what pans out.
