How long are rotors supposed to last? Is it a good idea to replace them after awhile? or are they pretty much guranteed for life. I am talking about the factor rotors.

Buy an auto guide 4 the Alero and check there! It may be that the rotor are to be replaced only if they're warped or worn below spec. and can't be resurfaced! Check Haynes manual# 38026, you can get it at Advanced Auto Parts for about $17.00... :thumb:

I have ~110,000KM on my car (about 65,000 miles) and they're still running on the stock rotors, although they had to be turned about a year and a half ago because they were warped. It's a '99 and I bought the car used at 43,000KM (~25,000mi) and I highly doubt they replaced the rotors with that much mileage on them.

I replaced mine after 45000kms, and got them turned by GM at 19xxxKms, Gm stock rotors are crap, I replaced mine with Inroble industrys Slotted and crossdrilled rotors, and metalic pads, no problems scince.
