In my car I used an abrasive bumper cleaner and hot water, but I also removed the intier interiour so I didn't have to worry about chemicals inside my car. For paint I used Dupont Vynle Resin paint. I got both from a local automotive paint supply shop.

I just cleaned mine. Some people use primer, too. I will most likely be able to pick the paint off mine later and re-do it. :P lol

I am doing this as we speak.. I Ued soap water to clean my parts. I also put a few coats of primer on as well. I am using Duplicolor spray on paints.

I was thinking about painting a few trim pieces in mine....
Is it possible to get a glossy finish?

Clean the pieces with alcohol or paint thinner to remove and type of contaminants from the pieces. It will remove stock clear coat armor-all and everything else.
To get a glossy finish with every spray paint that I have used is to spray many coats or to spray thicker coats.

Here's what I did...
#1. Use very fine grain sandpaper to sand down the surfaces you are painting. This will help give the paint some grip and help it not to chip. This will also make sure you aren't painting over armorall or other greasey cleaners that mess up paint.
#2. Use rubbing alcohol to clean the dust from the sanding.
#3. Mask off the areas you don't want painted (like if you want to leave the a/c control area black).
#4. Apply 3-4 very thin coats of paint. I used Testor plastic paint (available at hobby stores)... Burgandy Metallic. Then apply like 5 coats of clearcoat. The stuff I used was also Testor brand and it wasn't very glossy. That is the finish I wanted... it is only semi-glossy looking.
I highly reccomend the Testor paint. I've had it on for 2 years now and it still looks pretty good.
