So i have replaced my front brake pads numerous times, but they still make noise, it seems like sometimes when im stopping they squeel and sometimes they dont,, sometimes when i make a left hand turn slow they squeel sometimes they dont, sometimes when im driving i hear a tss like scraping sound at intervals i am so sick and tired of having a nice looking car only to have the braking squeel bring down the vehicle any suggestions or help would be appreciated,, and one more question,, i have found that i have replaced my front brake pads about 3 times and my back ones have not needed to be replaced yet ,, it seems kind of like they are not working maybe? or is this common for our cars and my emergency brake does not work to stop in emergencys is this meant to just be as a parking brake or to actually stop the car ?

1. Have you replaced your front rotors along with the pads yet?
2. What kind of pads did you use?
3. The rear pads do not work near as much as the fronts. Mostly for the e-brake. I've replaced my fronts twice, and never replaced the rears. And I road race and auto-X.

yes i replaced my front rotors with the pads, i use some car quest brand, i know they arnt the best but im not complaining about the life of the pad... just the noise, usually if im turning slightly ill get a repetitive squeeling noise without even braking but going straight is usually fine braking unless i brake then release a little bit, it doesnt squeel when i brake, just when i start to let up.

i seem to be having the same problem. i have replaced the front pads twice already, the second time was only a week after i got the first set. i put bendix pads all the way around, and i also had all of the rotors resurfaced. i have tried all of that stuff you can buy at the local auto store that promises to make your brakes quit squealing, some of them work just for a few days, but then quit working. i am starting to think that it is the thin metal pad brackets rubbing against the pads, so i am going to take mine out and rind the insides of them down a little bit to see if that helps. any other suggestions would help.

[QUOTE]that it is the thin metal pad brackets rubbing against the pads
i meant to say "rubbing against the rotors"

i think its the metal pieces too, but what do they do? are they to stop it from rattleing? i have been thinking it has been these for some time, but i dont know if it is a good idea to shave them, this would explain why when turning to one side it squeels but when you turn it back it doesnt, but what would be the underlying cause of this, the shaving would be a quick fix but what is the real problem?
I have the exact same problem here. Changed brakes and rotors and the problem came back again.
One thing the dealer said... There is a problem with the brake lube in combination with the brakes. The lube breaks down too fast or something like that and that this is part of the reason for that metal on metal noise. And of course there's no fix for it... :wah:

thats garbage, there is a fix for everything, yea i noticed usually after i wash my car the breaks are ok for a little bit, but anyways maybe like he said, grinding down the little metal pieces might help, i think i might give that a go

i found out today that the squeaking noise is actually coming from my rear brakes. i am going to try shaving the little brackets down, and i will post if it works or not, which hopefully it will. like i said before i've tried evrything under the sun to get them to stop except this. oh, and they are there to keep the brake pads in place, because if you pull them out, your pads will slide back and forth with your rotor, making it more difficult to stop.
