View Full Version : Tinting The Moonroof (kinda)

Ok, I'm looking for opinions on not only my idea, but also on the design. I really wanted to cut out a set of flames surrounding the OSV text, but trust me on this, it's REALLY involved to do something of that complexity. This is my second choice. (The Headstones symbol.) Our canadian members might recognize the symbol. Please, no comments on the band itself, just the idea and design in question. ( And yes, I know the Headstones are broke-up )

My attachment is the design i'm considering...it's a pic of a cutout I made taped to the glass and stood up against my kitchen window, showing the darkened shape.

*****Keep in mind, this can only been seen from inside the car, as the moonroof glass our cars have is tinted already.*****

Thanks everyone,
-Eric

a guy down the street put a dodge symbol on top of his so when the sunroof is open its visable. looks really sweet. maybe put an olds symbol on it and see how that looks? just dont make it a fairy color like yellow. lol

That's a cool design and all, but IMO doesn't go with the rest of what you got going on already.. that's all. I would stick with flames, that would look nice.

I hear ya Sarah, and I think the same way...but flames are SUCH an ass-ache to cut out of the tint film...you have no idea. :( I'm a total noob when it comes to window tinit, and this is definately more or a "user-friendly" design.

Oh, and Paul: this is window-wint dude....it's only gonna be seen on the inside. I thought about a putting nice big chrome Olds symbol on-top, but it wouldn't be very noticable. It's like our sunroofs don't tilt up much? I dunno.....that, and I'm enjoying the nice clean look so far. That's why I haven't put my gold flames down the sides yet. They're bought and payed for, but I just can't bring myself to put them on the car.............yet. :P

 What? That makes no sense....... If you're contemplating the flames I think.. then they should be a piece o' cake...

Hey I say go for it. I had a decal made for my sunroof "Dream Catcher" the name of my Alero but being that it was in cursve it was to small so for a while it was on my back window. Keep us updated on the progress.

^ I seriously don't see how the shaping around and in-between that snake and H will be easier then flames!!!

Well, it's not the cutting and shaping that's the hard part, but think of it this way sarah: After the design is cut, it has to be applied while wet, with a squeegee to remove the air bubbles and soap. Think of all the little flame-tips going @ different directions @ the top, and how that would be with a squeegee. TOTAL ass-ache. :glare:

:wtf: you're nuts. At least the flames are all attached on one side.. can't say that for your snakey-thing can ya? There's holes everywhere, and holes are more of a bitch than flaps. Believe me.
