Re-installing Dome Light

Gahhh! i thought everything was going good.... got dome light out and painted now the hard part turns out to be putting it back in. Their is a plastic face that clips on to the back of the dome light, this plastic face plate thing is between the metal on the roof and the interior of the car... now how the hell do i snap the dome light back on if their is a gap allowing the face plate to just be pushed up further into the roof... it wont snap into place if itgets pushed up.

I couldnt understand you but I had a problem with putting it back up too. I had to wedge a small block between the dome bracket and roof so the dome had something to catch to. This your problem?

ya thats my problem, but how did u get the small block out? or did u screw it to the face plate? dont want to stick something in there than not be able to get it out and have it roll around.

The block was jsut a small piece of wood, maybe 1" by 1". Thats probably off a lot so just think of something smll enough like that but big enough to make the dome bracket sturdy enough for the dome's plastic screws to catch when pushed up.

HAHA! i figured it out! You have to think backwards! So in the process of thinking while sitting in the backseats i looked up and saw the clips that hold my headliner in..... unscrewed the clips, pulled the coat hangers off, stuck my arm in the headliner, held the plastic face plate down and snaped my dome light back on... wow that was easy.

Thank God for a sunroof I just peeled the molding around that back and wedged my little hand in there and held the clip with one hand while I fiddle with the dome light with the other. I'm so glad the dealer fixed it for me when I bought the car, :rolleyes:
At least now I know how to do it, lol
