Has anyone ever thought what a hatchback alero might look like. I know it would be a lot of work but I think it would look good in the end. I think someone should photoshop this.

that would be as queer as a 3 dollar bill. why would you change your sleeper into a real grocery getter?
like he said before, pointless. (and a waste of money)

Yeah, the Isuzu Impulse was a nice little pocket rocket, but once you put the hatchback on it then it was not worth mentioning at all (in fact, I don't blame an admin for removing this post for me mentioning it...) )

I would love to own a pre 89 Isuzu Impulse. Turbo charged with a Lotus suspension. The Geo Storm is just a rebadged Isuzu Impulse.

Hate to say it, but I'm with LDR would be cool to see a hatch alero (I'm a hatch fan, what can I say. Gotta love the GTI's). Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be the interest or motivation to photoshop a pic of one. Sorry LDR. :thumb:

...........why would his car be a sleeper.... anyways, just because a car is a hatchback, doesnt make it a "grocery getter"....thats liek saying, a supra, 240sx, rx7, and aeclipse are all grocery getters just because the rear window is attached to the trunk......

i hate to tell you but every car can be a grocery getter, i learned to accpet it.

It was just a thought. My friend just got a '02 RSX type-S and its a hatchback I think its cooll as hell. I wasn't planning on doing it right away if at all anyway don't have the $ right now.

it all depends on what kind of hatchback you're going to do....now if you make it like the mazda 3 hatch, then i think it wouldn't look good....on the other hand, the mazda 6 hatchback looks awesome. the body is still the same, only the window just has a little more slant to it...gives you more room without the big clunky back end.

Just to clarify I wasn't really talking about an alero wagon I was taliking about taking the normal alero and turning the trunk and back window into a hatch.

Last time i checked, a hatchback had no real panel, just a flap in the rear. So to even make a true hatchback, you would have to cut out the rear panel and also either cut out a couple of inches of the frame around the rear window to have something to attach the trunk lid to, or find a way to make the trunk lid lighter so it could be attached directly to the glass. In summary, you're talking about a lot of structural work and maybe future leakage problems doing this. Though it would be cool to see because i wanted to do it too, but the expense and soundness of the work outways the effect.
