OK we are heading to the track tomorrow, Just giving a post up now because I won't have time tomorrow.
Daytona, another racing buddy, and I were all out in the first round. I dropped down to 7th place and Daytona is in 5th , I think.
I went out to a red light and Daytona had a bad light.
Good day? I hope so :popc1: :popc1:

Actually I was in a 3-way tie fpr 2nd place. Then racing began. :(
Ken, our friend Corey, and I all went out 2nd round. I'll let Ken expound about his own experiences but I started the day well, cutting some great lights. Easily won 1st round and got placed on the #3 spot on the elimination ladder for 2nd round by virtue of my winning .022 light 1st round.
Ended up paired with Colon, the same guy I lost first round to last time due to my crappy launch. He was now 3 points ahead of me in 1st place. I went first and felt the car bog off the line which contributed, I'm sure, in some small way towards my worst light of the day. He then cut a decent light and almost caught me up top-end. I beat him and slammed on the brakes just before the finish line.
It obviously wasn't meant to be my day because, somehow, even on the brakes my car went a full tenth faster than it should have. I can see pickign up a few hundreths maybe but not more than a tenth like I woud have if I didn't break. Turned out to be the quickest time all year for my car. That meant I broke out and Colon moved yet another point away from me. He lost the next round to a Heavy ET racer who was making extra laps in our class so that's good. But I think I dropped to 5th or 6th place now.
Gonna run in the MOPAR Atlantic Nationals race next Sunday for extra seat time. Hopefully it works.

I was just very happy to make it to the 2nd round. I went up against a 12 second Monte SS, a really sweet looking car, looked like an '86.
I had my best light of the day a .078 and at the top end of the track he was just starting to get out of my mirror. I jammed the brakes and took the win. I ran a 15.22 on a 15.12 dial. I did him a favor too, he broke out by 2 tenths anyway but his r/t was .386
The second round I went out to a 12.45 Mailbu, He just walk right past me. I rasied my dial to 15.18 but I should have brought it up to 15.22. Mitch suggested 15.20 but I didn't wanna brake out. Anyway that car didn't run it's dial, it ran 15.245 and I had the 2nd worst light of the day a .175.
O well next race, May 29th :thumb: and it is the 2nd time in 3 point days that I made it past 1st round. Plus people at the track are getting to know me a bit so that's always a plus. Hanging around with Mitch helps too since he worked there for a few seasons.

Na the Intake slowed me down, I ran the 14.98 with a regluar CAI and 15.08 with it but with a higher MPH.
It was a bit humid and the car was 40 lbs overweight so low 15's could have been high 14's easy

If you are really far ahead of the other guy, you tap to brakes so you don't break out (outrun you dial in time)
I've done that on import days and the kids think I'm playing with them and get pissed off

ohh i get it now. the only time ive gone to the track was for test and tune so there wasnt a dial in time. so breaking seemed odd

^^ Yeah in bracket racing, speed doesn't matter. Daytona has the slowest car in the field but is in 3rd place so far this season.
He'd be in 1st place if it wasn't for that '1' sticker in his race number  Ask Daytona about his number 1

F- you, Ken. F- you. :P
And for the record, my car is not always the slowest in the class but she's up there. Consistency matters more than speed so my slow Daytona is about as successful as my 12-second Camaro was.
